I'm surprised there isn't more public uproar about them hiring an Ontario company for the labour with so many Albertans out of work.

Its simply astounding the people who fall for this kind of bullshit.

You have to think, around 25% of the Albertan population is ok with this crap and/or applauds it

    WTF!?
They must be funding it by selling your contact info, since the carbon tax revenue is already allocated elsewhere.

To be fair, Ecofitt has office in Calgary, so probably using local labour for this work. Of course the profits and tax revenue moves east, most of which coming from the margins on all this stuff.

Nah, more like 40% as that was the popular vote percentage for the NDP in the 2015 election.

Apparently its capped to the first 10,000 households that sign up...
I'm not signing up, I don't want to be a part of the warped statistics this is going to give the NDP to use as propaganda in the next election..

Someone mentioned it before, but it likely went through the standard RFP process and they were the best/lowest bidder. All contracts would have to go through this process.

If you look at ecofitts job openings, they're hiring installers so it looks like qualified Albertans can still be hired. Not sure if they will actually hire Albertans but it would make sense to since the job locations are mostly in Alberta.

So if the limit is 10,000 houses they are planning on getting invoiced around $2,000 for each house! To change light bulbs!

I'd be willing to accept the idea that an Ontarioan would know how to screw in a light bulb properly.

You do know, that technically with old style 60 and 100 watt lightbulbs you are supposed to tighten and then untwist a quarter to half turn to allow for heat expansion right? Few people do.
    Cocoa $8,000 per tonne.

^Well that explains why it's hard to replace a light bulb while it's still on. Especially an incandescent bulb.

Well to think that everyone I've known for my almost 6 decades on this big ball of dirt has been doing it all wrong. What a bunch of morans we all are, thankfully the Ontarioans can save us from ourselves.

2 Stage incandescent bulbs will make LED lights obsolete. Don't fall into the old CFL trap.

    LEDs were invented in 1927.

CFLs have been around forever as well, it's not like they were a new technology.

As a practical matter people liked them simply because IBs burnt out so often that just on that basis alone getting a bulb that lasted for years saved on money.

Makes me wonder how long a 2-stage IB's life would be, as it's still dealing with a wire filament.

Is that why everyone hated Harper, because he banned incandescent light bulbs? Energy efficiency without having to collect a tax for it, how clever.
