Reddit I get why there are so many Nenshi supporters, that's literally Nenshi's base that got him elected. Social media fiends. What I've never understood is why CP is so skewed in Nenshi support and Beyond isn't. Both are general forums that should have a pretty decent representation of Calgary demographics. If anything, Beyond should be the one more skewed towards anti-Nenshi because we're car lovers.
CP will castrate someone if they said "Im voting for Bill Smith simply cause I don't like Nenshi".

What exactly is so horrible about what we have now? Taxes have gone up? They always go up. Smith wants to cut taxes, fund the Green Line, and potentially the stadium. The money is to come from savings on "inefficiencies" (while giving no specifics of course). It shocks me people buy that crap. It's just political Clinton-speak (saying a lot of words with zero substance). Don't get me wrong, I have mixed feelings on Nenshi, but I think people who are voting against Nenshi rather than for someone are the same fucking idiots who helped get the NDP in.
City can't run a deficit. People thinking that taxes will magically go down without cutting on major projects or deep cuts into what makes up most of the budget (emergency services) are frankly, clueless.

    No candidate will lower tax.

Inefficiencies in Fleet services, administration and HR, plus long term staff retirement (offering packages to eligible long term employees).

Doesn't look like a ban yet, a couple of loose replies and one label of "troll". Surely you can do better than that!?!?

Have you ever done your "suburbs actually support the inner city" explanation you did here a while ago? That would probably make them lose their minds

A nice endorsement from Nenshi donor and philanthropist Riaz Mamdami.
Not sure hes the guy Id want publically supporting me.. (and the one I referenced above) Its normal for nice philanthropists have assasination attempts on their lives right? From what I heard he was laundering money for someone (presumed HA) and wasn't up on payments.. only reason hes alive was because of his car. A few of his employees were quite worried about going to work for the next while... and Strategic didnt exactly have the best rep prior either. (Source: various real estate brokers and industry guys) Take it for what its worth of course.

Nah, like I said earlier, I don't do anything on CP except read hockey news. It's way too one sided politically over there and they take things way too serious. I just posted this one because it was a semi witty response to a post here haha.

CP is extremely Liberal. It's no surprise at all that Nenshi would be extremely popular there. They had a pretty hateful thread when Harper was PM that rivals the Trump one going on there now.

Come on Ward 7 people. Please do what's right for Calgary and finally send Druh Farrell to retirement!

Well to be fair, Nenshi was a terrible prof too at MRC.

I had him for the one year (or semester) he taught at U of C. He was fine.

And I'm sure a lot of people praise Bill Smith's lawyer skills. My point is, no politician can be expected to be perfect these days.

Fair. Personally, I think he's done well as Mayor. He's had his fair share of mis=steps, but no one has a perfect run.

You literally can't have a dissenting opinion on a topic. You get jumped on by everyone.

I am willing to bet people just agree with things as to try and be 'cool'.

My favorite is how they think their mayor poll is some how the most accurate even though it doesn't reflect the polls at all.

All that being said I think I'm going to vote Chabot because I can't vote for Nenshi or Smith. Maybe Stan the Man because that is awesome to put on the ballot.

CP just thinks they're Liberal. They're mostly a bunch of rich white guys that desperately want to look progressive while sucking up as much money as they can.

If you want to see how liberal CP actually is, look into the Alberta Politics thread.

They're all Conservative with mostly Progressive social values when it comes equality and immigration. How many of them actually believe in what they portray when it comes to social issues, that's a whole other matter.

But yes if you don't agree with the consensus, look out.

I know nenshi just claimed his major opponent was Chabot to split the vote but I actually think based on what I’ve read about chabot if this were a meritocracy that nenshi is correct in that statement.

Chabot just doesn’t seem to be getting the airtime Smith is. Probably because he’s not playing the media bs game. At least to the extent smith and nenshi are

My brother summed it up nicely. Chabot is a perfect example of how sticking to your platform instead of playing politics is a terrible campaign strategy.
