Really nice. How's the dynamic range relative to the D810 in your opinion? Noise? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

naw, their 787 broke down, so they had to ferry 2 days worth of passengers back. It went back without any passengers the next morning.
Thanks man, dynamic range seems better for sure especially in the shadow recovery, noise is noticeably improved over the 810 but I haven't really cranked on it yet. Off to Assiniboine here next week to give her a proper test. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

DR is the same up until ISO 400, where Sony's dual-gain sensor tech kicks in and is slightly improved compared to the D810:This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

ISO is the same up to ISO 400 and then about a full stop better courtesy of the dual-gain sensor once again:

The other thing is it holds onto color much better at higher ISO's and with a big shadow push, even compared to the D810 (notice the purple cast is completely gone at ISO 100, but they are still very similar at ISO64):

The real-world samples are directly in line with all this data as well, so all in all a really solid improvement and quite remarkable considering they added 30% more resolution and an electronic shutter which is something that typically hinders light collection or forces 12bit. The small (11MP) and medium (25MP) RAWs are also true RAWs this time around, albeit 12bit.
