Bump!
In the market for an office chair now that the craze has died down and the foam of my current one is flat.
Looking at the steelcase leap. Does anyone have any contacts at RGO?
Paging chair expert @Lex350
Update re Leap with headrest. It's comfy but I find the buttocks get sore after a few hours. This is a common complaint. After initially sitting in it, by day 2 my lower back got very sore. Did some reading and found this was because the adjustable lumbar support makes that support too aggressive. I pulled the adjustable support out and chair felt much better. Kept it like this for a few months. I've now put it back in and my back seems ok. This is another common issue that others have experienced.
Biggest complaint? Bum padding could be more. 8/10. Overall a very + change for my work day.
Pics of buttocks sores, plz.

Prices have gone up on chairs so I don't think I'll be able to get a Gesture for anywhere around that but it would be niceThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Imperial Oil has top end Steelcase stuff everywhere at their campus, and I'd guess 20% of it is unused. Might be worth contacting someone there and see if they'd sell you a used one, which is probably not even used lol. I have no idea specifically who that would be to reach out to though.

A couple things:
Drop me a line if you want to check out some Steelcase chairs. (I work as a lead designer at RGO) I sit in a Leap chair but it really isn't my favorite. I like the Gesture and the new Karman chair. (Not available to the public yet because of supply chain issues.)
$800 for a used leap is ridiculous. Allsold used to let them go for around $400. That's a good deal but new Leaps go for $800-$900.
I did all the work of the Imperial site. They are standardized on Gesture. I know they are putting a significant amount of square footage to go on the market to lease but at the moment the idea is to include the furniture in the lease so they aren't looking to divest any furniture......yet. Imperial tends to hold on to their stuff rather than sell it off.
As far as chairs go, set up an appointment and come try out the different models. What feels comfortable to me may not feel comfortable to you. From time to time RGO has deals on used chairs that still carry a full warranty but at the moment the pickings are slim.

another decent option is Haworth. I use a Steelcase Leap V2 at work and it's great but couldn't justify the price for one at home. Haworth was suggested. There is a local dealer in Calgary that brings in a few models in one fabric color, standard options and sells them for less than the website. I bought one for $500 and have been quite happy with it. It's not as good as the Leap, but it's pretty darn close.
Yup...Haworth makes some great chairs. Overall I think their line is better than Herman Miller's. There are two dealers in town so you might be able to play them off each other for a better price. (HBI and Office Concepts) The Fern chair is really quite comfortable. As for Steelcase they have other good chairs that aren't as expensive as the Leap of Gesture. If you're not a larger person The series 1 or Series 2 chairs are a good option and almost half the cost. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Office Concepts are the ones that order in lots of 50 chairs at a time of the Soji and the Fern. One color only (black with small white squares), standard options and sells them for less than ordering the same spec chair on the Haworth website. THey also have them in stock ready for pick up.
I debated between the Soji (basic model) and the Fern. Couldn't justify almost double the price for the Fern as it gets mixed reviews online. If they had the Zody, I would have bought that one as we have a few of those at work and they seem comfortable.
Paging Sexi Lexi for more chair talk.

I got a HM Embody last year. Awesome chair. I ended up wearing a piece of leather down on it and they sent me an brand new chair under warranty, white glove delivery and removal of existing chair.
