Default Bike from Alberta to BC GST question

    Good morning everyone,

I am hoping someone can help me out with a stupid issue.

2014 moved to Vancouver renting for the first year
    2015 bought a house
2016 shipped my bike down from Calgary
December 2017 ICBC sends me a letter stating that I owe the GST for bringing my bike down.

The Bike was bought brand new at Mountain Toys have the bill of sale. My question is does anyone know if there is a way of not having to pay PST on the bike? the year of the bike is 2007

Any help would be much appreciated

    Thank You

so you have owned the bike for 10 years and they are trying to collect PST? Seems odd... Here is BC's exemption list on pg 8: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/assets/gov/ta...8-vehicles.pdf

I have seen this and icbc reasoning is that when I moved I had 30 days to bring over my bike and I would not have had to pay anything. My response to that was "were would I have stored it? I have already had a bike stolen in the past and refuses to leave it outside"

I find it very strange that after two years of insuring it in BC that they would come at me for paying PST, just seems like a money grab
