Coles Notes, it's OK for a machine to discriminate? haha
Well, kinda ya??? But to be fair that was going on long before we had computerized rating systems. The one thing that doesn't come into play in Alberta and to my knowledge anywhere in Canada is race / ethnicity. I don't know about the states though. Strange fact, once upon a time it was printed right in the insurance company manuals that the customers must speak clear & fluent French or English to be acceptable. That shit disappeared in 2004 when the Grid system came in and insurance companies could no longer refuse a client at will.

But isn't postal code a replacement for that?

I understand sometime there are crime stats for loss. But it's quite easy to discriminate by race indirectly via postal code.

Postal code inputs are purely tied to claims & crime stats. For example home insurance on the North edge of Calgary and up through Airdrie has gone up quite a bit more than everywhere else in the last five years because of the increase in hail activity in that area (repeated claims), nothing to do with how many blue, green or purple people that live in those areas.

Purple people, I just knew Nenshi was to blame for all of this.
    Will fuck off, again.
