Default Dumb question about exhaust connections

Installing a new muffler, should there be air coming from the connection at the flange?? I can't tell if it affects sound as it's an aftermarket fart pipe, not sure if I've connected it wrong or it's just normal I've never lookedat this sort of thing..

If there's enough exhaust coming out to feel it with your hand, that's too much. You have a gasket on that flange?

Yup, it is only little bit, like it I cup my hand around it.... just thought it is not right, I assume it should be air tight? I've never noticed on other cars?!

Yeah that will eventually blow out the gasket and then warp the flange... make it tighter... if it is tight, make sure it’s aligned (maybe pop it out of the hangers, tighten then rehang) also make sure you didn’t have two gaskets stuck together when you put them in

I've only done exhaust on crappy cars, buty rule of thumb is that the air leakage should be very minimal to start because it's only going to increase.

Not truly "air tight" or at least I don't worry myself about that. But I drive junkers.

I'll make sure everything is tight, 9 year old Alberta car, 227,000km... bolt heads snapped right off, so I had to fucking drill though them all first.

Hmmm, well I kept the old gaskets in case, tightened them up, seems fine, thanks beyond!

Fyi, Manzo/M2/Top Speed axle back exhausts off ebay are awesome replicas of the Tanabe sound, not loud and very deep growl, best $370 I ever spent
