My new one is a Toguard with the wired rear view camera. (picture in picture). Looks like a good Amazon purchase for a whopping $80. Wife’s car has a nice Sony lense camera purchased from CalgaryDashCam, old one is a crusty Blackburn that operates at 700° while recording, likes to kill SD cards.

Holy fuk. BlackVue dash cam are $400+? Are they worth it? Will the cheap Chinese brand like Xiaomi be ok?

I'm also in for recommendations on best dash cam (either single or dual F/R). I'm long overdue on picking a couple of these up.

I picked up a Viofo A119S V2 just about a year ago now from Amazon based on recommendations in one of the other dashcam threads. The quality is excellent.

I ran a G1W for the longest time. It had been fried in the hot sun, dropped etc. Had to resolder the the card socket back on the pcb. It still works but can't take the card out without disassembling. Have had a few others temporarily on trial, but went back to a G1WC. It's all I really need, though a rear camera would be good.
One day I'll switch to a Blackvue dual channel.

Yeah, I'm still using the G1W too. I've been wanting to upgrade to a VIOFO A119 V2, but don't really need a new camera cause the G1W has been so solid. My only reasoning for wanting to upgrade is so that the GPS can set the clock for me every daylight savings instead of having to do it manually like a sucka

Yep, got one in both cars. Some old one that's still going strong in wife's car that I got from AsianMiles, and A119S V2 on my new ride. Was driving my wife's one over the winter and got sideswiped, glad I had footage as the guy started making up stories, till I told him I had a dashcam and his behavior changed in a moment. Didn't have to use the video but was nice to have if the guy started lying to police/insurance. I don't know why anyone wouldn't have one, cheap insurance.

Still got mine from the group buy. Needed one when I was on the highway a lot and I got run off the road by a semi.

I view it as important as insurance now.

Yeah, I don't get why you wouldn't want one or even wait until after an accident to get one. For as little as $100, it could save a lot of potential headaches. After the incident with Little Dragon's girlfriend a few years back, I ordered one right away cause without a dashcam that could have easily gone the other way.

I first bought a cheap cam and the night time video was crap so I upgraded.

I don't have one but I've been meaning to pick up a couple. I've just always had bad luck with things drawing on the battery and coming back to a dead vehicle so I have been leary about it. If you don't mind me interjecting, what is everyone running for cameras?
I have a couple power magic pros I don't use anymore if you're interested.

Anyone have this dashcam? I just picked it up and should be here Monday. Hope I made the right decision.

Haven't reviewed any footage on it nor tried the wifi features, but it does annoyingly go into a boot loop when the card is full, rather than overwriting the old stuff automatically.
This is supposed to go away with a firmware update which I haven't figured out how to do yet.

I'm still using, and happy with, the BlackVue I got through the group buy arranged by SpikerS near the end of 2012. Been looking at getting a dual channel for the girlfriend.

Nope, the one vehicle I had that had one was rolled by another driver but never checked the footage.
