Interesting. I can easily sustain 700 on my Napoleon if I needed to.
400 is barely enough to really grill...

+ for Broil King. Can't remember the model (maybe Signet) but it was the basic 4 burner propane with cast iron grill for about $450 at the time. Bought it 5 years ago and it's still going strong.
also +1 for not cleaning the cast iron grill to prevent rust... i basically give it a quick once over with a wood scraper while it's still a bit warm to remove large pieces, but never a "deep" cleaning with a wire brush or anything like that. Any heavy grease/oil just burns up anyways the next time i fire it up.
Very tough to light, burners going out without much wind, uneven heat, doesn't sustain high temp. He got some warranty replacement parts for it and still didn't solve all the problems. Not sure exactly what model it was, it was something in the middle of their range. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
We both have broil king signet grills now and they are just rock solid. Obviously they're on the lower end, but they're great.

I have a Weber that I don't keep covered when not in use, and as such, I've had to replace a few of the electric igniters. Everything else is solid, been using it for 8 years now.
I can eat more hot wings than you.
I just bought this on costco.ca. Napoleon Rogue 425 with side burner
It seems to be the mid-lower line for Napoleon, seemed like a decent deal with a cover and it being the side burner model.

interested. Which model? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
It gets plenty hot at the grill surface to grill... but indirect cooking is inefficient because it loses so much heat and becomes a total crapshoot if it's cooler out and there's any wind. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

My prestige 665 I bought for the lake can also.
Both NG. Just make sure you have a full 1/2” line out to them.

Indirect/smoking is obviously a completely different ballgame, no need to sustain high temps for that kind of cooking. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Broil King Baron in the $650 range or Weber Genesis II 3 burner (or any of its variations) in the $1000 range. When I was looking you could find Genesis II's in the $750-$800 range on sale quite easily.
Indirect more like roasting a chicken or reverse sear 375° - 400° rather than smoking ~200°... it just seems inefficient to max out 4 burners to maintain 400°F, and lord help you if it's windy. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

The real problem is that calgary is just way too cold.

I am in the market for a BBQ. Currently I have a Vermont Castings Signature series BBQ it is over 15 Years old.
I was heavily leaning towards the Webber https://www.weber.com/CA/en/grills/g...gid=40#start=1
Based on @killramos comment are you suggesting that Napoleon is a better buy ? If so which series? It looks like they have way too many series.
Mod edit: Moved to appropriate thread

I think Napoleon is the right balance of price to performance. You can go higher end but not gain much in performance.
My personal favorite is the P500 (PSRIB) Prestige.
They have a new lineup recently which is made in China and much cheaper. I think these are the Legends so skip those.
Prestige Pro is pretty epic but $$$

My vote is always Weber Summit and Killramos has already stated his preference for the high end Napoleon.
I think we're both right as I'm sure both are fantastic.
One key difference that may only come down to personal preference is that Napoleon tends to have their searing zone as a side burner whereas Weber just has an extra burner inside the oven cavity. Both options offer some +/- that the buyer should consider.

Yea the Weber is a good product, I haven’t personally had much luck with them but that’s fine. Once upon a time they had a big price premium to Napoleon which make Napoleon a no brainer. Things are much closer these days though. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Holy shit! When did these prices get so high?! I paid less than $2k for my Summit about a decade ago. Now it's showing at $2,800!This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
We should settle this, once and for all. I can't withstand much more of your -Rep, LoL!!This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
As mentioned above, apparently process have changed a lot. Which one do you have? Provide link so we can analyze.
I have this one: https://www.weber.com/CA/en/grills/g...id=221#start=1
which is a Summit S-470 and it's as good as the day I bought it. But wow, $2,850 I might reconsider. I think mine was around $1,800 from Double Diamond in Edmonton.
At the small end, doesn't look like Napoleon sells a 2-burner competitor to the Weber spirit II 210. That's the size I need.
Have one buddy with the spirit II 310, and another that wants that size. That seems to be same as the cheapest Napoleon.

This is what I have, except mines 7 years old and doesn’t have the light up burner knobs.
I also have one of these at the lake, same thing but a touch more square footage for entertainment https://www.napoleon.com/en/ca/barbe...sib-p665rsibnk
Both awesome grills. But not sure bench racing is going to solve much here lol

In my opinion, the Spirit is too "cheap" or basic of a BBQ to justify paying for the Weber name, if that makes sense. I'd buy a higher end one from an off-brand.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I base this on not really liking the lower series from Broil King (can't recall their names).
