let me tell you a little story about shaw.....
When we moved to coventry my mom decided to get the bundle of TV and internet to save a few bucks. I noticed that shaw was slower, almost unbearable at peak times. That was no problem just something I had to deal with. go to 3 months in the future, I come home from work and my mom is on the phone with a shaw guy. I guess we exceeded the upload limit of 90 gig for 3 months running!!!
Well i use the comp. for bill payment and beyond so I don't upload anything. I guess some guy in pakistan was using us for an ISP when we were away form the computer. Shaw insisted this was are fault and threatened to cut off our cable.
to make a long story short, I cancelled the shaw after their constant harrasment and now I can only use the net at work.
I hate Shaw

I had no problem with them trying to protect themselves, that is necassary and I would do the same thing.
The problem is with accusing a 50 year old woman who is a customer of lying to them. my mom needs me to turn the damn thing on. They talked to her like she was some kind of hacker and like she was trying to cover up something.

Been on Shaw since the WAVE trials in Varsity... happy customer ever since. Never harassed about uploads or downloads, I run clean firewalled systems, so never gets abused. Always fast cuz I don't have some stupid virus uploading crap 24/7. When I moved up to Arbour Lake, my shaw doubled in speed, my upload speed was faster than a T1. It was like that for about a year and a half, now it's back to normal (~750kb/sec). Still works well for my VPN to the office, transfer files back and forth without any problems.
I've tried Telus DSL as a trial, and it's significantly slower than Shaw. Uploads are a bit faster (about 850kb/sec), but downloads were way slower (8000kb/sec shaw vs 1500kb/sec telus DSL).
Back in varsity, every month or two, my download speed drops significantly because of an uploader near my house hogging up upstream bandwidth, so I call and complain regularly. Problem gets fixed overnight when they ban the offending uploader. Hasn't happened since I moved.

I like Shaw cause it was the only high speed internet provider when I moved to Hawkwood.
Telus DSL only came to Hawkwood maybe a year and a half ago I think.

I started off with shaw several years ago but switched to telus to try them out and they were faster in the area I am currently in. Although I am moving way down south in a couple weeks and will be getting 1 month free shaw full cable/internet yadda so I will see how they are out there and will keep them if it's good. Then I can ditch my land line/phone.

I've been with Shaw for a couple of years and now i'm with Telus.
I was a heavy online gamer back when I had shaw, this was probably in 2000 I believe, and clan matches were always right at my primetime, it got to a point where i was pinging 400 to every server in north America.. so that's when I went to Telus and it was better.. but now that I don't play very much online games that's ping dependent, i might switch back to Shaw.

started with shaw when it was the "wave", kept goin out, one time for 1 week,
changed to telus cuz we could get a free webcam. hahah
telus is not as fast as shaw,,, for sure.. but reliable..

have had shaw ever since 98, on the same comp and modem for almost 6 years now, had a few problems but they were all soon fixed, customer serives i think is good, dont know about telus but shaw send a guy within a few days to come and fix it for free, i think thats good!
