Maybe the average salary, still probably on the low side as teachers make that after 3-4 years in Calgary, not to mention payroll taxes like cpp and ei, benefits, training, aids...
Try and keep up. New teachers, which is what we are lacking, and they would be hiring, start at $58 to $66k depending on education. After 10 years, there ramp all the way to $92 to $101.

You are wrong about everything, and generally, don't know anything. Why you keep expressing your ignorance is curious.

So are they cutting that program that lowers the cost of daycare for random parents across the province? I didn’t see anything

Direct wages, yes, but include total compensation and it's probably more like 85-90 teachers.
    OMG, you guys are ridiculous

PS, his war room will cost $50 million if he said $30

Honestly ... pretty shitty. Definitely fucking over students from multiple angles but hey, they're typically better educated and don't vote UCP so I guess it makes sense. At least the corporations get a 33% tax cut. Because I'm sure that'll create jobs like it does everytime there's a tax cut.

The biggest bullshit, like every conservative government, just bank on oil increasing in price to balance the budget.
What happened to corporate tax revenue in Alberta the last time the corporate tax rate was lowered?

The ndp budget also predicted oil price would go up. I think this budget has it going up to $65 over the 4 years.

Calgary has a much higher percentage of university graduates compared to Edmonton, and we all know who supports the NDP.

You're the one that said that they would be able to be paid for 4 years, and I'm out to lunch to use the salary at the end of the period, its just as good of assumption as using the entry salary.

I can spell definitely, so I must be doing something right.

So we would let the teachers go after 4 years? Impossible, hiring a teacher is a 30 year, $3 million + commitment.

Nothing like demonstrating your ignorance, and then changing the argument Hey, they are also cutting AISH, for sure I thought you'd be particularly pissed about losing some of your income

Still on track for worldwide minimum wage to hit $80US/hour by the time I'm old enough to need a human to shovel the sidewalk.

One can only hope that the machines have taken over by then.

The program is funded until 2021 with a provincial and federal funding agreement so it will last until then but won’t be expanded unless the feds kick in the money to do so.

Bugger, I was hoping they were going to do what doug ford had done and that is to give a tax cut to people paying for daycare per child like the feds have

The term you're looking for is "loaded rate".

It's hard to argue against a consumption tax from a "fiscal conservative" perspective. Doesn't penalize earning or saving.

What I want to know is what welfare will Hawaii be getting by the time I'm old enough to say I've had enough of it all.

If you extrapolate 2.5x minimum wage, they could literally be in the $200 per hour range. Seriously, Hawaiian welfare recipient is where its at.

Recession in 4-3-2-1. And he'll blame someone else
Where have you been since 2015? We've been in a recession for years, long before this was released. Does this budget cut deep? Absolutely. Is it going to make everyone happy? Definitely not. But we're in the middle of a recession and something drastic needed to be done. I'm just glad someone had the balls to do it.

Like I say all the time to my public sector family members: where do you think money comes from to fund all these public sector jobs, programs, and development? If the private sector (not just O&G) is suffering and you don't have investment, or you have a huge population out of work (unemployment rate has been hovering between 6-8% and doesn't include the large amount of contractors out of work) then you don't have taxes to pay for everything. No money = cuts. It sucks but its the reality of things. Plus, I'm not going to be sad to see some of those fat public unions have to make cuts. Maybe AHS finally turns their upside down pyramid management structure around and chops some useless fat cats and allow that money to go to increasing the number of nurses. They won't but a boy can dream.

Honestly ... it's not unreasonable. Do like a 3% PST with a decent amount of exemptions for rent/morgage, groceries and such and it wouldn't really make that big of difference to the average person. Aside from the fact they'd cry the sky is falling.

Median take home wage is 68k in Calgary [2016] and assume they spend 33% of that on housing and another 7% on groceries that leaves 40.8k and if they spent it all that would be 1224$ in tax or 102$ a month in tax on 5667$ take home pay. (Less if they actually save anything).
