While we can blame UK/China outbreak on ineffective ADV vaccines. Israel (Pfizer) is also starting to freak out due to low adoption. LA reinstated mask guidance regardless of vaccination and CDC is starting to panic as vaccination stalls. HK just banned all British flights (although, it's more about stopping dissidents from fleeing more than Delta). And we are about to have Olympics in a month, talking about potential super spreader event.

We are about 1 month out to see if US follows UK. I think if we can get to 70% 2 dose by end of July, we may be able to escape this round.

It seems that all the fourth wave hysteria requires several key points and studies to be outright ignored and the focus to be shifted from keeping the healthcare system from collapse to straight case numbers as a singular metric

Every level of government seems to have a proclivity for ignoring studies and science until it's too late and we're neck deep in another wave. I don't predict it'll happen this summer, but we'll see a repeat of last Autumn.

What study or data is out there that shows that Delta breaks through vaccines at a high enough rate to cause enough severe outcomes to warrant a new round of restrictions, or are you just looking at straight case numbers? Are the studies showing the efficacy of vaccines at preventing severe outcomes incorrect?

What exactly are we supposed to see here? It's UK Covid stats, I don't see anything there that invalidates the studies showing the efficacy of vaccines against severe outcomes if infected by Delta, nor is there a breakdown of whether or not their cases were in vaccinated people or not. And even then, it shows 1600 hospitalizations in the last 7 days against 125k new cases

It's understandable that some people are scared still and unsure of going back to normal after the government has spent the last 16 months telling them what to do, but don't try and scare other people without having data to back your fourth wave claims up.
