    Default New Caledonia riots

French Europeans living in New Caledonia for ten years get the vote. It makes sense as it is exactly the same way that the USA got Hawaii, send in a warship take out the monarchy and then give sailors the vote.

Arguably New Caledonia is solidly a French colony already, but the natives did have a small chance of retaining some sense of power. Spread that democracy.

BTW: New Caledonia and the surrounding islands are nickel. Actual 21st century money.

It was always a no win scenario for the natives, they lost a solid 150 years ago. If they voted for independance from France, the USA would have ransaked the island the same day - with half a warship.

That they voted on expansion of the voting base with only 20% of native islanders being eligible for that initial vote, shows how silly the entire idea is.

There is no question to me that Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, Virgin Islands and Northern Mariana Islands will all eventually fall to the democracy of the USA.

That they burned down the local Porsche dealer and torched all the cars is heavy warning to the world.

Israel vs Hamas was always and probably will always be a thing. Putin vs Nazi was always going to be a thing. Australia vs USA would prove to me that it has all fallen apart.

Macron heading there personally. Island paradise can turn into a warzone at tip of hat.

Surprised Nickel and China not mentioned by Zenny.

    Nvm: he did.

So should we riot now all the BC and Ontario people are here to dilute our votes?

Y'know it is a good practice scenario for if Taiwan decides to go with USA style democracy.

French democracy is much more fair than US democracy, even so - as an unincorporated US island like Taiwan would be - would 100% assuredly be treated just like New Caledonia. Sure the locals get a vote, but roughly ten years and every landed immigrant would also get a vote.

Which is why I solidly stand by "If China was a democracy, they would have voted out Taiwan a decade ago". Because its true.

"You have been voted off the island!" Truest quote of any native islander.

As for USA vs Australia: It would primarily hinge on the six submarines that Australia has, and if they are capable of taking down a US aircraft carrier (unlikely, but not impossible) I can imagine the USA would win in a matter of 12 hours. Australians need be reminded that being a British colony will not gain them extra favour from a country that gained all of its strength by pushing out the British.
