Look at housing prices in Calgary, who lives here because they choose too? I certainly don't.
- - - Updated - - -
I do. I have said it before, It depends on what one is comparing to.
Calgary one of the best places in the word. Sure, other places may be nice. But when you factor in commute times(pre Covid), standard of living in terms of housing, healthcare, political stability, healthcare, crime, strong civic institutions, sunlight, and mountains... Calgary is fantastic.
Wait, these are same people who tried to slow you down from before? They think they own the street or something? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
What a joke.
Your experience reminds me of why I want an acreage again.
Since nobody called bullshit - this isn’t actually happening anywhere. The only thing that changed is cases where someone was suddenly sick with all of the symptoms and then died, and which in a doctor’s expert opinion was a presumptive case, but a test was not yet available to prove it, they are counting that. Which makes sense, because it would be dumb not to count that. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
You might have a few freak coincidences, but that will be negligible and will be a wash if you consider all of the underreporting going on.
And now there is this too, which wasn’t noticed or counted before apparently. Younger/middle aged people are dying from strokes after recovery.

This is my thought every time I drive through the burbs. It’s actually pretty offputing. I drove on that little mahogany lake peninsula and I drew the line when your multi million dollar property shares a driveway with your neighbour. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Everytime I drive in the NW I feel like this. It's just a big sea of two storey houses. I always just sing the Weeds theme song to myself. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Your neighborhood should have a warning label

I also don't understand the idea of living out in Springbank or Bearspaw without a stellar mountain view, and instead a clear view of your neighbors backyard that really isn't that far away. Paying that much without a view. What a waste.
Out by Okotoks/Black Diamond, now those guys have a stunning mountain view.
Thread derailed successfully. Time to start another to derail

How much land would you need to live out Bearspaw or Springbank? My goal is to have 5ish acres out that way. Don't need a mountain view. But the land needs to be bush. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Well, slightly less, but you only gave me the two sig figs to work with. Can you get a more accurate survey of the lot?

By Calgarian bragging etiquette standards, you own "about an acre"This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

All I know for sure is that I'm only "five" minutes to downtown.

Then you need to be driving faster in that Honda Fit.
5 minutes is for plebs when you can be there in 4.
It's hard to say what's faster, driving my truck or my honda fit. One is faster down the centre street hill, the other can really rip around James Short Parkade to park.
