The playoffs will be pretty interesting this year. I’m thinking teams from tougher divisions may roll over other top teams.

Leafs will probably get an easy bye to the Conference final and a good chance they won't have to face the Bruins along the way. Pains me to say it, but the Leafs are looking good this year. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Leafs are where the oilers should be after all those top draft picks.
The Flames are so bad... Like soo bad!
As a life long flames fan, I can't remember disliking a team more.
The Sabres are bad, Calgary is mediocre. They need a strong push to make the playoffs over Montreal and Vancouver is more than likely out with 2pts back with Mont having 4 games in hand. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Referee Tim Peel canned.
Another great win for #CancelCulture. Thank Allah they stuck a mic on a guy and caught him saying something bad during his incredibly stressful job! I can't wait for him to be replaced by a French Quebecer because only the last vingt-cinq new officials have been French. #Equality
Everyone knows game mgmt = bad. Ask anyone what they find exciting in hockey and they'll all tell you it's watching Detroit and Buffalo lose all their games 8-0. Because what everyone loves is the rulebook called as black & white as possible with zero judgement applied.
"Pernalty in teh furst ers a pernalty in da therd!!!"
Honestly as a ref I see nothing wrong with the call but he's caught by the stupid mic. It's all about managing the game. Making a "weak" call to make a statement isn't anything new. Everyone knows it.
If game management is acceptable then we might as well let people to fix the games. I see no difference.
No, not everyone. See above. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
A shocking number of intelligent hockey fans fail to grasp this concept, so I guess it's not simple.
well it's been acceptable for longer than you've been alive. So, I guess you figure all NHL games are rigged? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

The point is if the person with the whistle is going to determine the out come of the game it is fixed.
There were many things which was acceptable in the past but as world evolves people have realized that things need to improve. There are other major sports who have cleaned up the image and gone with the latest technology to fix the 'Human Error'.
They're not determining the outcome. The winning team will still win. They're just preventing bloodbaths. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Take Buffalo, for example. They would barely be a .500 club in the WHL this year. They are inconceivably bad.
It's no coincidence that they have 40% fewer PIM's than Tampa Bay. Why? Because they're getting smoked, game after game after game and putting them on the PK just leads to more drubbing. The other team just wants to collect their two points and go home without getting hurt. That's better for the NHL and more entertaining for the fans. "No blood - no foul. Let's get the fuck outta here."
In the very rare instances that Buffalo gets their shit together the game will be called differently in such a way to allow each team a fair chance at winning.
Until this device is refereeing the games, I think we are stuck with humans, and that's probably okay.

Right. The Winning team will win because the call was not made. Makes sense. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

There's a lot of reforms that are worthwhile in professional sport, but I'm not sure the referees even make the top 10.

You've convinced me. Buffalo has been getting treated preferentially and should have had another 70 penalties to kill off. That would make it fair. I bet those 70 fewer penalties are why they have dead last locked up.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
You should go referee a Jr. B game on the Hobbema Reserve where they're playing a team of whiteys. Call it straight by the book and after that fifth straight hooking penalty Hobbema gets with the score at 6-0 in the start of the second period, let me know how confident you feel about putting them short-handed again.
By the third period, let me know if the ambulance is there to pick up an injury, or a corpse.
By the end of the game, let me know how confident you are that you're going to make it to your car in the parking lot.
Peel was close to retirement anyway, if a new ref was caught in this manner he gets a slap on the wrist.
Yeah, I'd be fine with being escorted out of my office a few weeks from retirement after an entire career with one company. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
No one's got a right to be upset about his treatment.
So NHL is intimidated by the team and they are instructing the ref's to manage the game? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
You are making some really valid points for fixing the outcome of the games.
