If you really want the latest GPU tech then yeah wait for the 3060Ti, but you'll run the risk of being bottlenecked by your CPU.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
If just need a upgrade from what you currently have, I'd honestly just look for a GTX 1080 ($300-$350 CAD) cause those are still sufficient for your setup.
pretty sure my GPU is my bottleneck now (3700X, 32GB DDR4-3200, X570)This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
not in any rush to upgrade anyway since I still have 2 games to finish on the PS3 before I finish the games on my Steam account (Witcher 2, 3, some Assassin Creed games) so yeah 1080 should be sufficient.
also maybe considering the 2060 or 2070 but at this price point might just wait for the 3060ti or 3070
interested on newer cards too for faster GPU encoding.

I'm still rocking the EVGA GeForce GTX 970 SC+ Maybe some of you guys with Titan cards can help a brother out when you get the creme de la creme down the road.
Then again I don't play a lot of games. I want brute force for Adobe mainly, Topaz sometimes. The main reason to go from W7 -> W10, Lightroom on W7 doesn't utilize the GPU, but PS does.
All that said, the new Cyberpunk 2077 looks fucking cool (and hardware demanding).

Picked up a couple things and started building. Got the 5600x backordered.. Fingers crossed it shows up sooner than January but not holding my breath. Has anyone seen one show up recently?

Wanted to share this for anyone in the market for a PC. This is a hell of a deal considering the shortage of 3080 graphics cards right now.
Use coupon $100OFF$2000PC for additional off.
Final price comes out to ~$2315 shipped

Can also get the Intel i7 version with 256SSD +1TB for the same price.
Delivery time is scheduled for December 15th.
Weird specs lol. 3080 but 16 gb of ram? Too bad it can't have a 5600 or 5800x as an option and it'd be a great setup. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
That is cheap considering a 3080 goes for 1k alone. 1200$ for the rest including a sick case isn't too shabby.
I don't think that is a good deal to be honest. Old CPU, RAM is too slow for Ryzen (no mention of timings either), and probably garbage PSU and Mobo take the shine off IMHO. No details on cooling either but some people comments say it's bad. The 3080 is nice but the rest of the system appears to be very average. No mention of SSD model number either so I'm guessing it's not great - DELL typically buys their SSDs in bulk from a variety of different manufacturers so they never tell you what you're getting. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. If a 3080 is $1000 you can buy equal or better internals/case for another ~$1300.

I mean people are scalping them on ebay for like $1600 right now so it beats paying scalpers if you just want the card. Of course, who knows who it's made by, could be a low end mfg.

Yup, it's not bad but not really that great. I think the build I just finished ran around ~$3k including taxes but better specs all around. Good if you don't want to build or wait for part stock to come in.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
welp I put my name down for the RTX 3070 but might cancel it and put my name down for the TBA RTX 3060ti, I think it will be announced on Dec 2.
Which 3070? If it's for any Asus, especially non-OC models, get on another list. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I pre-ordered this as I've had good luck with EVGA and didnt need the gaming versions

Non-OC cards are nonexistent. Retailers are not receiving them. I was on the list for the Dual 3070 and am being told to select another card. ME does not list it on their website anymore. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I hope the rumours of a 3060 are true. I don't really wanna spend $800 for a 3070.

I thought I saw somewhere on reddit that Asus has discontinued the SKU for the non-OC 3080.
I've been reading that Nvidia's unusually high GPU costs along with Nvidia's performance targets are leaving so little room for the board partners to make money that is why you are seeing them cheap out on some of their designs. Maybe they are getting poor yield on Samsung's 8nm. They also didn't give the board partners the same amount of time as they usually do to prepare their designs prior to launch, so it's all adding up to a less than ideal scenario. Hopefully everything is sorted out in 1Q21 and it would be nice to see them use TSMC 7nm at least for the Ti cards or something.

Yeah I ended up getting that PC for about $2100 shipped with some work discounts so had to pull the trigger there. Cant get a RTX 3080 anywhere anyway.
My kid told me today that he wants to build his first gaming pc, I know nothing about this but I would like to help him get started as a Christmas gift. He’s in high school and doesn’t have a job so he’s on a tight budget, so if anyone can recommend a build I’d appreciate it. Looking for a motherboard, tower and a power supply to start with.
Better to start a Build A PC thread. Toss in the term MEGA for more reps. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

If he wants to build it, just give himoney towards it. Don't interfere.
