While funny, and mostly true, a lot of that is controlling the scene. For a parkade you've got a narrow gate or entrance to control the angle of cars entering, short camera distances, and as best as you can, an idea viewing angle setup. The mobile cars have 700 cameras strapped to them so theres always some angle they can process as they roll by at a slow speed.
But driving around now, theres certain vehicles you see where the plates so muddy, or covered in snow its almost impossible to read. Throw in dust or dawns really flat light and night time, and its quite a bit harder to read plates all the time.
The new reflective plates also fuck you on photo radar. Expect more tickets now. Seen a pic on FB of the difference and it was night and day from old to new.

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.
Basically the registry should watch you put the sticker on and if you do it incorrectly, your licence gets revoked for a year. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Have never seen a good driver with the incorrectly placed sticker.
I never put them in the right spot out of spite. The registration sticker was out dated in the 80's when dispatch was running plate numbers on their computers and could instantly tell if the plate had an expired registration, hence my post a few pages back. The cops don't give a shit about the stickers. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
So, in my act of rebellion, i just find a spot of clear white space, and BAM! that's where my sticker goes. Actually kinda sad I won't be able to do that anymore...

I'll try and find it. New plate you could clearly read the plate from the flash, old plate, was dark and hardly readable. Real reason to get rid of stickers. More revenue from photo radar. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Aren't plates / registration a provincial authority and the photo radar a municipality? Hence why Deadmonton and Calgary have them but nothing outside the City limits? So the money saved wouldn't do it for me. Plus, with what the UCP did with the bills last week for Municipal politics, I don't assume that they are giving the Cities a way to collect more. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. I suspect it is an 'easy win' for the red-tape reduction department. Come election, look we removed 125 stupid / silly red tape things like we promised!

Hi all,
Since license plate stickers are no longer required in Alberta....can I remove the old ones for a cleaner look? I have a custom plate and would be nice to clean it up. I presume it's okay...but haven't seen anyone ask this question.
I did. Good luck not scuffing it up trying to get them off. I just did the same for my Vanity Plate.

Just renewed my plates and asked them this exact question - yes, you can remove all of the stickers if you want.
Sweet, thanks guys!

Only thing that sucks about motorcycle custom plates, it says YEAR and MONTH on the sticker locations, painted onto the plate. Oh well.
