Are these really that good? I bought a set for cheap and got them studded but haven't used them yet. Currently running Viking 7's.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Was lucky to get out of Kelowna on Sunday night. Still have family stuck there via Westjet. Got into Calgary and the baggage carousel area was packed with people missing bags. Westjet lost them. They were literally just going around handing out claims forms to everyone hoping that they would clear the terminal. Lots and lots of angry people.
My dad sat on the plane for 40 mins upon arrival in Edmonton. No ground staff.
No issues with Flair tho! Apart from the initial delay in Kelowna.
Looking around
Wondering what became
Of what I once knew
Total crazyness here. Over night snow fall was heavy, continuing into this am. Nice and fluffy.
I measured 35cm outside on top of my garbage bin and on top of my Infiniti.
I recall a 403 storm we had back in 1998, March 17 to be exact, and that was the only snow day that we ever had. That was ~32cm. That was the most snow I have ever seen fall over night. This dump we got last night tops that. Insane.
I have a flight out of here for Xmas vacation on Friday.
Holy shit that crazy dude!
I remember that 98' storm in Calgary, was nuts. Can't imagine how much of the world is ending out in your area.
I remember the '98 snow storm/snow day as well.
I lived close to work in 98. Took me about 30 mins to walk the 1.7km route that day. Saw a bus stuck where the MEC is now. Almost nobody showed up to work. CEO had to send a notice out to everyone saying if they didn't show up to work they had to use a vacation or flex day.
Haven't run the VK7 before so no direct comparison from myself, but it's a studdable GY vs a non-studdable Conti iirc? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
My direct comparison was going from those to Studded Cooper Discoverers on an Expedition and I found the GYs dealt with the super low temps a lot better, but that could have been due to a lighter vehicle
All subjective of course
Actually, speaking of the Coopers, anyone need a set of 265/70R17 on multi-fit (6x135 & 6x139.7) alloys with sensors? Used for about 4000km if even that

No question about it, this is terrible skating weather for the same reason. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
People look at me like I'm crazy when I say that about skating in cold weather. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Deerfoot up north is an ice rink. Same with memorial. Traction control going off at 100. ABS triggering everywhere. Gonna drive home before calling it a stud day.

Shits slick, I drove my truck on all seasons several places this afternoon just to check for you guys.
What's really slick? Running a small spare tire on these roads.
Felt the e53 was still pretty quick despite the conditions. Most of the sanded roads are back to ice now. Only place I was finding traction was some areas with packed snow. Most of the pavement is black ice. Took the van on studs out and I was flying everywhere, e53 won’t stand a chance. Def a studded day today. Took -28C to get there.

First day I've wished I had winters again. The light dusting of snow really fucked the roads at these temps.

This morning was a stud day for sure. That said it was a fun commute in rear bias awd

Was fine. Even the shined up snow.
I'm convinced 106 Ave SE is the worst road in the city.
Been doing a lot of driving the last couple days, wife too. Kid appointments all over the fucking city all day. Looking forward to staying within 5km of my house for a week starting tonight.
QE2 to Edmonton was no problems today, other than all the morons driving extremely slowly or with no lights.
If I come across one more father-fucker driving in the City with their hazard lights on I may have to ram them off the road.
