    Thats a super smart idea!
If anyone is curious, this is the type of drains I am using. They have a built-in P-trap, cleanout, and as visible in this picture, a threaded potion at the bottom. You have to drill out the hole if you plan on using it, and that is what I did. I have a brand new one left over, ordered one too many, if anyone wants to purchase. They aren't readily available and I had to order out of province.

Wait, how does that work without just making the p trap useless?

Doesnt this just bypass the p-trap entirely?

that plug makes sense. Can run a snake easily though that if needed, but has the p-trap for normal operation.

I think i'd rather just use mineral oil in the p-traps to prevent evap. but the water line idea is interesting

Not sure I follow the question. The cleanout part is plugged with a threaded plug, so water can only go through P-Trap during normal operations. Undo the plug if you got a blockage down line. There are a few other variations of this system which have a floating plug on the p-trap portion, that I don't have in this setup. Just p-trap with drip feeder, and a passthrough with a threaded plug for cleanout.

Well some progress on the house. Went out there last Tue after work and when I arrived, there was a truck there, ready to take something away, and that something was the work platform that I just finished with a few days prior! I was a bit confused as I was wondering how the fk they were going to finish the roof without it....but whatever, their problem. The machine was still left behind so worst case I could make my own platform with some extra large pallets from my siding if I needed to do anything else, like work on the fascia. Then on Wednesday I got a txt from a supervisor that basically said "Roofing crew coming tomorrow, I am tired of waiting for the other roofer"....and sure enough a crew showed up, and worked straight through the weekend and as of yesterday afternoon my entire roof is done. They didn't need the platform and did everything with ladders. The new roofing guy said it would be best if I had fascia done on the gables, so I started working on that right away from my make-shift platform...hoping that they don't come for the zoom boom until this week...but Friday at 2PM, a truck came and took it away, so I had to finish the rest of the fascia off a ladder....was sketchy at times haha.

The ladder, nearly fully extended. Once at the top you are basically leaning backwards...trying to hold onto the ladder some way....metal in one hand, drill in the other....an extra hand would have helped, but I survived and didn't fall and finished the fascia. The guys finished the roof and finally something is done.

    Wow, Love that

It has began!!! Been waiting for this moment for a long time! I am doing a time-lapse motion capture of the spray as well and will post it, along with final results after. This is just a teaser

Well the guy came in, was already there getting ready by 6:50 AM this morning, prepped a bit, and shot straight from 8AM, no lunch, no breakes, until 3:30PM and finished it all in one day! In total he used 1000 lbs of chemicals to make this happen.

    Final results:

Some close-ups to get idea of what it looks like

    And finally the time lapse!

Next up is radiant tubing and rebar, before concrete! shit is about to get real!

Thank Gawd they did that in two layers. That's a massive sign of a good foam contractor. If they blow it in too thick in one layer, it doesn't work and can cause off-gassing issues where the foam doesn't set and all sorts of new, massive issues.
What foam did they use? I'm surprised to see the guy not wearing SABA because the more OG foams briefly produce poisonous gas while setting up. I know the technology has improved, but I'm still surprised. The BASF product called Wall-Tite shouldn't require breathing air, but HSE nerds are always "I'd feel better if..."

This is 2lb Elastochem foam. Guy just wore his respirator and I stood by not too far away watching. I asked him initially and he said because of good flow of air, that I could have even been upstairs in the loft the whole time if I wanted to, so sounds like it's not as toxic...or he didn't care haha.

Regarding the double pass. The first pass is a skim coat, guess they do that so that the gravel doesn't absorb too much and gets lifted. The first coat basically glues shit down, and second coat is the insulation. They can only do 2" at a time regardless. My roof will require 6" and that would be 3 full passes on multiple days.

3 weeks out at least before I am ready. I will be starting work on hydronic lines this week, and with any luck rebar the following week. That will keep me busy. Once that's done, it's concrete time! I all of the sudden have a ton of work I can do, so things will be hectic from here on

That place is going to be sealed tighter than a gnat's asshole. I assume this has been mentioned, but you'll want a good HRV haha.

That's the plan...if my HVAC contractor ever responds to me. Having issues with one of them getting back to me. So far what has been discussed is a 3 zone system, but that was a year ago when I initially approached them. I just got back in touch a week or two ago and haven't heard back since I provided them additional info, so we will see. But yah, HRV is part of the plan, as I need mechanical ventilation for the entire place.

Will there be a poly vapor barrier applied over the foam or will they be placing concrete directly onto it?
