I mean they have teslas piling up around North America. They just had a huge missed quarter. They need to right the ship at least optically and they are mortgaging their future with out of market residuals to do it.

There also seems to be a game in that Tesla seems to be betting that 2-3 years from now hundreds of thousands of model 3’s will be more valuable to them than making new ones (the vapour robo taxi moonshot).

Time will tell if that is a good bet, but sounds like a reasonable deal for consumers in the meantime if you want a cheap Tesla.
