Took the GX out this morning. Pretty great package. Lots of pickup too and loved the seating position, steering was completely dead no different then my NX.

Really poised though, was very welcome after spending the last 2 weeks with a wrangler. It didn’t wander at all.

Found the dash a bit dim on a bright day, I think that’s a comment theme.

Couldn’t get much of a pulse on timing, won’t even tell me my place in line. “Hopefully this year” was basically the timeframe haha.

I took out a luxury, but was able to see an Overtrail that was sold to another customer out back. Glad I didn’t spec the chateau interior, it’s pretty light and would definitely stain from jeans.

The earth paint seems pretty special, and isn’t actually a flat color it has a lot of metallic flake in the sun.

That was a good one. Gonna be interesting to see what the options are to soften that front overhang on the GX because it’s pretty well the only thing “holding it back” off-road.

levelling kit alone would do a lot of good.

lol, as if overhang and approach angle is relevant whatsoever for this car.

Seems like Toyota engineers agree by cheaping out on the skid plate vs LC.

    Good.

The skid plate(s) on my last-gen GX are like 75% of the reason I don't do my own oil changes on it haha.

Ok, like 50% maybe. Other 50% being that I don't like getting my soft hands dirty anymore.

But in case you are curious, it is a big pain in the dick (when compared to an oil change on the RDX we had before it, which I did myself haha)

    Ford, for “the works”: $140

Me, going to CT for a filter and oil for the truck: $80… and then I need to dispose of oil and had no wheel rotation or anything else.

I’m no longer seeing the “savings” in that

DIY oil changes are not as big of a savings as they sued to be, that's for sure.

My deciding factor is ultimately time. If it was quicker to DIY, I would do it.

You know you can leave your Lexus keys in your mail box, then they will come get it and bring it back when they are done.

I honestly didn't know that. I have a fundamental principle of not using dealers for service. That being said, this might just be a high enough convenience factor to sway me haha.

It’s the only way I convince my wife to get oil changes lol

    That is pretty damn sweet.

My 4R has full skid plates from the factory. Fortunately the saving grace is that the vehicle is high enough that I don't need to jack it up. But I've gotten lazier and $40 of oil for DIY vs. $80 for the dealer gets more appealing, especially in the winter...

It’s funny people say things like this but what do you think it should cost for someone to change your wiper blades?

$60 bucks of parts for no name versions from crappy tire, probably $100 for OE.

People want loaner cars, valet service, cappuccinos shiny facilities whatever. Got to pay the tech to install them, his time isn’t free.

It’s not like the dealer is even making much if any profit installing those blades for you for $155.

I suspect their aggregate margin is actually really healthy on a $150 wiper blade install that takes all of 45 seconds and can probably be done while the car is draining it's oil. Parts and service are the cash cows for dealers, aren't they?
