Default Oil level after track day

I switched to Mobil 1 Syn 5w30 about 7000km ago on my 194K accord. My engine never leaked any oil but after the track day my engine oil level went below the low level. After that I filled it back up to normal level and no prblems after. After running hard on a track day is it normal to burn off some motor oil? or is it the Mobil syn thats causing it burn off easy?

It's not really good to put full synthetic on a car with high mileage,... the synthetic oils coat the metals where regular oils don't (very excellent),... but,... also seeping into the smallest of cracks where regular oils don't go either (very baaad). I switched to a semi-synthetic (5w30) a month ago and noticed an occasional drip from somewhere now,... I may have to switch back to regular, heavier(10w30 - for the first change then back to a reg 5w30) oil, but I'm afraid the damage might be done already (the seepage has started - no stopping now).

Should change your oil every 3000kms, and if you have an auto, every 6000kms (changing your tennry fluid)

if the engine isnt in perfect condition, itll burn more oil than usual when its pushed really hard.

It's not uncommon to burn a litre or more on the track. I have had my other car out on the track a couple times, it does not lose any oil when street driven, still right on the full line at oil change time, but on a track day, I can go through 1 to 2 litres of oil.

When the engine is under that kind of stress, it will burn some oil. Part of the reason is because your oil will get much hotter when your engine is under stress, and will become less viscous, so more of it will get by the rings. Although I'm sure there are other reasons why it uses more oil on the track.

Keep with the synthetic, synthetic does not cause your car to leak more oil. That is a myth. If somebody's car leaks more oil after they put synthetic in, they already had a leak, and the conventional oil was masking it, by plugging up the hole.
In my opinion, it's better to replace whatever gasket is leaking, and run synthetic for the protection, than to band-aid it, and switch back to conventional.

Very good point however is it not true that you shouldnt switch right from conventional to synthetic. Instead you should make it a gradual switch and move to a blend then to synthetic afterwards

if the leak stops with thicker oil, then it stops. granted it is still there but its not a myth that synth will leak more on a leaky engine. this is true. I agree that the leak should be sourced out rather than leave it though.
