Which one would you pick? They are both sexy cars! They're both based on the same awesome FM platform. The G35 has a longer wheelbase to accomodate 2 rear seats that aren't present in the 350Z. The cockpit of the 350Z and G35 are also slightly different; in the 350Z the driver sits closer to the front of the car, whereas the G35 puts the driver further back for more comfort. Both cars use the same engine, the VQ35DE. 3.5L, DOHC, VVT, 280hp in the G35 Coupe, 287hp in the 350Z, with the difference in power coming from a less restrictive exhaust system on the 350Z. Both cars share the same suspension components although the G35 is obviously a little softer. Both cars come with 18" wheels, brembo brakes, and a 6-speed manual tranny.
The 350Z is a full out GT car that is built for racing, with stiff suspension (you should see the huge rear bar), 18" rims, big Brembo brakes, and somewhat spartan interior that basically centers around a massive tachometer that is right in front of your face. The seats in this car are also absolutely amazing at providing support.
The G35 is smoother, quieter, and more luxurious. Being an Infiniti, the interior is much nicer too. It can still handle very well, and it is still very powerful.
Which one would you rather have and why? The G35 basically offers everything the 350Z has (good handling, power...), but it presents it in a MUCH nicer and luxurious package. The 350Z is a full out racer, and having that would at least separate you as a hardcore driver, compared to the people who would own a G35, since basically any granny with some money would like a G35 simply because its luxurious and looks nice.
I'd probably pick the 350Z, because I'm all about the driving.
