So when you launch off the line, do you a) rev up to 5000, put it into first gear and then drop the clutch, or do you b) ride the hell out of the clutch and feather it off at the friction point?

Umm dropping the clutch at 5 grand is not the best thing to do if you want your clutch to last you.
5 grand is just an example though, I think thats what it is for type r's though, I'm not too sure

I drop it at 5000 all the time
isnt it like kinda chunky if you drop the clutch though, like you jerk a couple of times

it pretty smooth, no wheel hop.
I think hondas are better at launching at high RPM since it has less torque...is that true?
I got wheel hop all over the place...and that was from 3000rpm!
so do you start reving, then you put it in 1st, or do you already have it in gear, but your foot down on the clutch, and reving at 5000. I know you'll burn the clutch like crazy, but isnt it faster this way?

I put it in first, clutch in, rev up, clutch out. I try not to dump the clutch as I don't want to abuse it too much...more of a feathering it off....
Anyways I don't like to do it...makes too much noise and smells and bad stuff...haha
At the track I usually drop @ around 5500

Well, if you want to wear out your stock clutch really fast, then drop it at 5K.....however, if you have a aftermarket clutch like a clutchmasters or centerforce, feel free to launch it as often as you like, its amazing the difference between stock and aftermarket clutch

Shit, there's only 49 users here, I doubt we'll even break 100
Dropping a clutch at a high rpm doesn't wear the clutch nearly as fast as feathering it...

i've heard people dropping/feathering at even higher RPMs, but these are aftermarket clutches mind you.
not all hondas are the same. u drive s2k (rev it hard) differently than an nsx (not quite so hard)
I don't get what you guys are talking about lol..I'm kinda slow
You rev your engine up to 5000rpm... then take your foot off the clutch slowly or just lift it off? Then keep pressing down on the gas?
No idea, I'm new to this whole driving stick thing haha
umm i think droppin the clutch or riding the clutch will cause less life on your clutch.
but anyways on my crx i usually launched it at vtec which was 5000rpm and now my type r i dump it at 6000rpm.
szw is right, with a honda we have to dump the clutch pretty high.
