If you install a performance chip it should bypass the governer

most cars have them bolted to the firewall or engine bay someplace it is just a matter of disconnecting it

What ever it is it's slow! ha ha j/k
Most manufatures when the decide to have a governor on their vehicle it usually universal to that manufaturer, save for their special high perf models. GM' has theirs set at 170kph on all their cars except vette's certain f-bodies etc. I imagine Honda would do the same, but may be different if your car is an SIR or sumthin.

I figured it'd be something like that. My dumass friend claims he's driven 210km/h in his h/b civic...
Aside from the governer, I'd imagine the speedo would be pretty inaccurate at high speed.

ALso you can't just disconnect the governor becuase then your car will not work.

And also I know a kid that can by-pass the govenor by switching from 3 to 4.

Perhaps the governor had been bypasses previously or maybe GM had it set at that speen back in those days. I was referring to new vehicles that we get on our rental fleet. Sorry if I was vague.

The main reason for the governor is the factory tires that come with most cars (H?) are not rated for anything over 160ish. So if you do disable your governer, make sure you have Z/Y/W rated tires first.

The VW governer is around 215km/hr - and lots of people still remove it.

Both of those make no sense, The governer in the the ECM and it is just a somputer program that cuts fuel or spark when you reach a certain speed. Disconnecting your comp will cause your car not to run. Removing the goverener will not cause any harm except for death when you go 210 in your stock J-body.

And Gspotracer: your right, older (below 94) Z24's can reach from 190-200. Without a governer they go about 230 tops.
