Accounting is where there is going to be the biggest demand in the next 3-5 years. There is a huge vaccuum according to Canadian Business, which I read just two days ago.
As for investment banking, that was one of the professions that they said would not be hot.
I just switched over to Accounting. It will open up a door in ANY industry you want to work in. Look at the VPs of all of the huge companies in North America. They are all Accounting, Finance or Engineer backgrounds. Even though the job may not be so exciting, there are excellent opportunities to advance into different areas. And also, what could be easier than starting up your own CA partnership after 10 years in the business? Jeez....if you really wanted to you could work a few months of the year for tax season and book a month off for holidays during the down time.
"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."
