Default Putting on winter tires early (Pros & Cons discussion)

So I swapped my wheels for 2 reasons.
Tread wear on my 19's are horrible and the weather.

My 17's however are all season and arent bad for daily driving but unfortunately one of my tires have the cables pokin out (Its not pokin out too much but enough to show the bare cable).
Since we now have snow coming up and we dont know for how long.

Do you guys suggest I put my winters on?
Even though next week could be sunny.

BTW, Im using Dunlop Graspic ds-2's as winters, they seem to be pretty soft, I just dont wanna sacrifice treadwear as I am cursed with shitty tires.

Since one of your tires are fubar'd I'd just swap the winters on. Don't want to be stuck in the snow with crappy tires. They're going on sooner or later. I just put mine on today.

I bolted mine on yesterday (friday). The weather looks pretty crappy for the next week, and it's not likely to get any warmer after that...

If you can afford a Beamer AND a Benz , buying new tires shouldn't be a problem..

i dont think there is really a diff Andy? think about it, the roads get clear in the winter after a few days, so really its just like driving in the summer, the only differnce is when you get into residential roads that they wont wear as fast?

    throw the winters on doood

Well... I put my winters on last night in anticipation of snow. I don't want to get caught in any snow with my Kuhmo 712's!

THrow the winters on... As long as it doesn't get above 20 you're still good after that, you'll burn the rubber off pretty quick

I already put mine on at Tirecraft today, RSX is getting fitted on Monday. I also ran into ScCab and rage2, ScCab's car is just a beast.

The weather network reports 2-4cm, where do you guys get the 25cm from? You shouldn't worry too much about sacrificing tread life, you probably burn off more if you drive aggressively.
