350Z's are pimp. Probably just a bad driver.
I know you don't smoke weed. I know this. But I'm gonna git you high today. 'cause it's Friday, you ain't got no job, and you ain't got shit to do!
new cars? not a lot, but the srt4 looks promising if they keep the price down.Originally posted by gpomp

Hm, true. But as good as the SRT4 is, it's still a Neon.Originally posted by finboy

oh. so theres a car thats faster than the 350z. hm well that settles it. the 350z is crap. absolute shit.
I can't view the clip. What do you mean by hybrid? I'm guessing but do you mean a gas-electric "hybrid"? A Toyota Hybrid?
The car is barely out yet. Its too early to write-off the 350Z.
Looks good so far though.
Oh yeah, that video clip is definetly an accurate indication of the new Z cars potential performance. First off, hybrid WHAT? There is no indication of exactly what he is racing, or how fast they are going. Was it from a rolling or standing start? Was the driver of the 350Z actually trying? Was the 350Z driver any good?Originally posted by SilverStreak

To give you an indication of the new Z car's performance, there's huge outcry in the SCCA Solo 2 community from the S2000 drivers who are afraid of getting tarred and feathered by that car, should it find itself in B stock. And as a bonus, the track pack 350Z is about $3000 cheaper than the S2000 ($46,5 cdn for a 350Z, $49.5k for a S2k).
Drag racing is for fast cars. Solo 2 is for fast drivers.
S2000 drivers that are afraid of the Z can't drive and would be pussies. The S is a lighter and better handling car. The Z has more power and torque, these factors offset. Depending on the track and the amount of straighaways, that will determine who comes out on top.Originally posted by 4wheeldrift

BTW the hybrid was an Insight
It was actually a B18C GSR motor Civic hatch.

The S2k and 350Z are extremely comparable vehicles. Personally, I think the outcry is just the S2000 drivers whining because they might lose their "I" class (ie I'm gonna win because I have no real competition). Quater mile times, stopping distances, and handling numbers are all very similar. The 350Z has a bit more of a tendency to push in high speed sweepers than the S2k, but thats nothing a bit of fiddling with the alignment couldn't fix from the sounds of it. Until these things start showing up at the track and for magazines to test, its hard to do anything other than guess.Originally posted by SilverStreak

And as for that civic, I'd like to know what was done to it. If its a reasonably stock civic with a stock GSR motor than that 350Z driver was not trying.

Here is a result from a track day, tell me who you think is the better track car. It also separates the men from the boys in terms of S2000 drivers.

If those were professional drivers you might have a valid data point, but that information shows nothing. There's no indication of how they class the cars or what mods are allowed. Every one of the S2000s that beat that 350Z (as well as the Z06, which shouldn't have happened if the corvette driver was even remotely capable) were on race tires. Yes, this does make a big difference. R compounds can amount to 2 seconds on a 45 second autocross course, the difference is going to be even larger over 2 minutes on buttonwillow. And if they were slicks, the difference gets even bigger.
Also, look at how many S2000 drivers were there, and how long had they had the car? There was only 1 350 there compared to 20 S2000 drivers. The more drivers you have in a particular model, the more likely you are to get a group that really knows their stuff. And if the model years are any indication, most of those S2000 drivers have had the cars a couple of years and are most likely very familiar with how they handle, where that 350Z couldn't be more than 2 months old tops. How familiar a driver is with how his car handles can make a big difference in terms of running the car at 10/10ths of its performance potential instead of 6 or 8/10ths.
And last but not least is how familiar were the drivers with the track? If that was the 350Z drivers first time out, he had better being going slow unless he wants to join the lemming club right away.
If you're going to bring information to an argument, you should try and at least bring somewhat valid data.
Drag racing is for fast cars. Solo 2 is for fast drivers.
I still love the 350Z!!
give the car some time..it will show what its made of to people who doubt it now.

The Z just does'nt know how to drive. you can have the fastest car, best performance parts, whatever, but if you can't drive then you will not win. The car does'nt make the person, it's the driver that makes the car. How many times have all of you seen people with fast cars, but drive like old people. The driver did'nt know how to race at all. I have a video of a 350Z vs. LT1 Z28, and the LS1 had bolt ons, and the Z had nothing. But the Ls1 still lost.
