    Default Deadlifts (Stiff Legged)

I just did Stiff legged deadlifts yestarday and my Hams and lower back is sore.. really feeling it...

Which one do you do? with bendlegs or stiff?

Deadlifts- It's one of the three big Olympic lifts, and for a very simple reason: no other exercise in your routine involves as many muscles. Direct stress is placed on the spinal erectors, butt, quads, traps, forearms, back, and hams. Therefore, you'll work up to very heavy weights and a lot of intensity

I do conventional deads. I can only do about 300 before my grip gives out though.

    which do you think?

Most people limit their reps...even down to 1-3 because any more than that with a heavy weight and you're going to lose your form quickly.

Man, that one exercise that kinda scares me, for the longest time I wouldn't do them.

For the last six months, the PT has been making me doing them, but we're staying conservative on the weight, and slowly increasing the intensity as I feel more comfortable with the exercise.

I like stiff legged much better. I did clean style deads last year and stiff legged this year and I'm seeing better gains all around from stiff legged. I do 150-155 kilos for sets of 6 right now.

I prefer stiff legged deadlifts. A little trick I learned has made them even better.

Simply elevate your toes with 25 lb plates.

Its a simple trick that keeps your form much better and makes the exercise more effective.

I'm so intimidated by this exercise, it looks like if you make one wrong move you could completely destroy your back.

As long as you concentrate and don't get lazy they're fine. Get lazy though and it goes to shit in a hurry.

you shouldn't do one or the other, do both
conventional deadlifts work your legs and back and most of the other muscles in your body, while SLDL's are mostly a hamstring excersize (when done right)

Get your back straight and limit your reps and you'll be fine. I honestly wouldn't do more than 4-5 reps unless it's a light warm up set.
