Default How Bad is leaving Winter Tires on Now?

I heard it was really bad for your winter tires to drive on dry pavement. Is this right? I've had my Blizzaks on ever since the first snowfall we had 2 months ago. Would it be worth my while to take them off and put my rims on until it finally snows if ever?

winter rubber is soft. soft rubber wears out easily. dry pavement wears out rubber faster than snow does.

    what do you think?

Go nuts, if you have no problem switching your tires over when the snow flies, throw your summers back on. Blizzaks + dry pavement = Expensive winter rubber going to waste.

Keep in mind though that summer rubber doesn't grip as well in the winter because its cold and the rubber isn't near as tacky.

I was just thinking of the same thing. Cost me 700 bux for my winters and it's all going to waste.

    Thanks for all your help!
I'll probably be taking them off in the next couple days unless it starts to snow.

ya I have winter tires on, you think they will last at least 2 winters at this rate? Ive got them since OCT. paid around 400 bucks for them. sure they wear out.. but its like paying 400 bucks for good weather. No accidents, im sure cold and snow does more harm to your car.

I'll be happy if they last me 2 winters. =/

Winter tires are only supposed to last the 1 winter, what i was told by my buddy at a tire shop is what u should do is use them from the first snowfall (if it stays) until the next winter, then buy new ones for the next year cause they will be worn out by the next year anyways even if u take them off, they will be at like 20%

1 winter? I don't think anyone is interested in getting new tires every winter.....

We've had blizzaks on our Windstar for 3 winters.....no problems!
