New Alkaline Trio out tuesday!

'Crimson' has been leaked for months now, but I'm still going down to the store tomorrow to pick up the album... I don't know if anyone here is a fan of alkaline trio, but I think this cd is gonna put them into the limelight to replace another band (cough blink 182).. and it's about fucking time.

even if you dont like their older stuff you should give this one a listen.

they're performing on Conan wednesday too!

i've been listening to crimson for awhile and am pretty impressed. Not sure if its as strong as good morning or from here to infirmary, but still really good. Definitely worth picking up. Also coming soon - new thrice!, new avenged sevenfold! It'll be a good June

no it doesn't:

there are always tons of shitty punk bands, they just get more exposure!

after the transplants, the new rancid was really solid

after smash, the offspring put out some solid songs

blink 182 have always been consistently good

sublime isn't any worse, even though they "made it" after they were toast

my chemical romance's new CD is amazing

green day's newest album is unbelievably good

the mainstream has nothing to do with what is and what isn't "punk"; the attitude that punk belongs to a very select group of people that hang out in dingy clubs (ie The Underground or The Castle) and if it leaves those places its' mainstream is what destroys "punk".

the Sex Pistols, the supposed "god father's" of punk and rebellion" were made by the record execs of the time to start something that wasn't there before and call it a revolution.

punk was never an "underground only" like all music it is subject to cyclical trends; think of how metal was in the 80's; the genre became popular and all these bands came out and watered down the market.

there are no more or fewer punk bands now then there were 10 years ago, you'll just see more of them on MuchMusic then you did before.

trends come and go, but to say that exposure to a genre of music ruins it is totally inaccurate.

and if i start seeing alkaline trio videos out there, good for them, they've worked hard from the times of Slapsticka nd the Suicide Machines to get there - it will not change the fact that they are a good band and write great music.

the whole 'anti mainstream' thing is just kids getting upset that whatever they thought was 'original' and 'cool' is now liked by everybody.

alkaline trio has always had consistent popish-punk music... the new album is produced flawlessly.

their set on conan was kinda bad though heh, someone wasnt on the ball at the soundboard.

now go buy the cd! woo!
