Default License Plate not clearly visible ticket

    hi guys,

i'm driving home on Sat morning around 4:30am and a cop pulls me over on M'knight and 12st. becuase i have one of those clear license plate covers on that they sell at canadian tire. He gives me a ticket for $115 becuase "license plate not clearly visible". do i have a chance if i try to fight this in court becuase they sell them at all canadian tires and is not like its one of those photo radar ones. becuase i recieved a photo radar ticket about a year ago with this cover on.

you can fight it and the cop likely won't show up, but you can't have ANYTHING covering your plate. i think i remember a thread from a while ago that stated even the dealership plate frame were technically illegal

    Plead guilty......

...go blow through a photo radar trap....

...and then use the "not clearly visible" findings to have the evidence on the photo radar ticket thrown out of court.

Then what is it for? To keep it clean so the cops can see it better? Or you mean you thought you were buying a cover that would impede on the photo radar's ability to see your license plate... But turns out you just wasted your 19.99

As I get older, either I become more old fashioned or gain a little more common sense. You had something covering your plate, and you got a ticket under a law that states you cannot put anything on top of your plate, a law that was likely introduced before you ever bought your car, got your license or put that cover on your plate.

    Injen makes license plate covers?
Are you sure you're not mistaking it for the license plate border?
The border is alot different than a cover just to let you know.

But you can still get a ticket for it. Seriously, if they want to, they can do it

Straight up, clear plates over the license plate is to obviously flash light off of it so they cant read your plate number. Not to keep it clean, dont worry, im sure 99.9% of the popel on here have covers to. why? Photo Radar is a bitch!

I would imagine that they would only give you a ticket if your registration stickers werent visible, anything other than that would be just plain crazy.

Absolutely, but they can technically do it, so if you've got one, don't be too mouthy, so they won't look for something else to ticket you for. I once got a ticket for having a crack in my windsheild (on the passenger side, in the bottom corner)... In hind site.. I should have STFU!

I you still have a copy of this ticket and you are willing to go for a long shot, bring it into court and use it to show that your plates are 'clearly visible' enough for photo radar,

and then state that you want the officer's eyes checked, ask him to read a sign that says " I am an asshole cop"
