    Default Hardtop Convertible Question

How do you put a hardtop on a soft-top convertible?
Do you go top down and then put the hardtop on?
What if you have a plastic rear window? The hardtop comes with a rear glass window?

Just got me thinking because pre 2002 S2000s have a plastic rear window while the 2002+ models have a heated rear glass window.......

Such stupid questions but I'm curious as to how it works........

a hard top just goes on top of it. So you put the soft top down. And it takes awhile to do it, not really something you can do on the run.

So you put the soft top down and then put the hardtop on? Or the hardtop goes on top of the soft top? (that be weird)

doesn't matter what kind of window comes on the softtop, u put the softtop down... so you have no rear window, then u place the hardtop in place and you get a rear glass window. It doesn't fit "over" the softtop because the softtop is tucked away wherever it goes when the top goes down (usually in the trunk area)

ok one more question, would the hardtop glass window be able to utilize the defroster? or would you have to re-wire it?

They usually come with a plug, some have it built into the mounting locations so u dont need to wire anything, while the more ghetto ones require you to manually wire it.

The hardtop glass should have the defroster lines. The top is pre-wired for defroster function.

LOL, i'm pretty sure it's above 10 seconds, probably like 15, then again I don't know much about soft tops, can't imagine it going down 9 seconds quicker then an slk hard top which is considered fast in the mid teens.

no way man, S2000 is WAY faster than SLK's.
I think its around 5 seconds.

Rage2 should know, I'm sure he's timed it and compared it against the SLK hahaha.
