Shit, there's only 49 users here, I doubt we'll even break 100
An MK3 Supra would be good, too. Their very cheap, and have a healthy resevoir of power to dip into.

yeah, if you want a good project car that makes a decent amount of power already, you'd wanna buy a stock FI engine. Probably wanna go turbo cause I think you'd have a lot more flexibility than you would with a SC. I'd go for the SR20DET if I were you.
Just my 2 cents
"Sic Parvis Magna"
FKA Silver_SpecV
Like an MK3 Supra, for example.

hehe j/k, actually the car IS under his name, but it's because we were too lazy (and cheap) to change the names around with financing.

my dad said that he will buy me a gumball...but then charge me interest on the 25 cents he spent on me. However, he loves cars and he is pretty knowledgable about it so when I get a project he loves it and I am thinking about trying out a ricer I have done other cars but no imports...and they seem like they would be fun.
eeek...regarding your use of the word rice:Originally posted by CVPP

anyway, good luck with your project! for info on hondas check out honda-acura.net (go to the tech forums, thats where the smart guys are)Originally posted by Glowrider
Ok. First thing you need to do is stop referring to modified Japanese cars as "rice". The term originated from the serious tuners of Honda's and such, to describe the stupid kids that put huge wings, neon lights, and graphics all over their cars. The term "rice", still holds a derogatory meaning within the import community today. It's not a good thing to have a "riced out" car.
Sure you can. You just need to find the right car and be able to do all the work yourself. But if you have to pay someone to do it then you probably won't see that money back again.Originally posted by rage2
Spend your money on a fast car instead then, first rule of modifying cars : you'll never get any of the money back.
You start with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck.
I think the problem is this;Originally posted by 5.9 R/T

If you are selling a modified car, there is the impression that it has been driven hard, thus driving down the value (to a private buyer who doesn't modify). I will concede that there are some exceptions, like some show cars. But even then, I don't think you will finally break even because in those cases, the car usually represents a substantial investment (of more than you could actually ask for the car). Plus, a lot of people will want to modify their own cars, narrowing your selling market.

I know people get all offended by using the word ricer or rice but I don't see why.? I mean it is an import from Japan or other countries it is just a term just like "muscle cars"
mullet cars??
rice is food.
if you want a project and cheap, dont get a mKII supra, get a MKIII supra, or 240sx, or 200sx, or corolla, or any number of rear drive japanese cars.
hell, get a toyota cressida, it shared the non turbo engine with the supras, and ive seen a few scary 300 horse turbo cressidas on japanese sites.
picture a four door family car that looks like what it is, and can run low 13s for a total investment that can be as low as 5000$ canadian.
uhhhh, how is an sr20det conversion in an s13 cheap???
Cheap IMPORTS? first project? S12, modify the ca18et. AW11, 4AGZE. MKIII supra. 280Z, 1st gen 300zx. FWD turbo eclipse <----- best choice cause probably the cheapest, easiest to work on, and there's a wealth of info out there.
"Its because they're stupid, that's why. That's why everyone does everything."
whoa, wait a minute...owning a corolla is NOT cheap!Originally posted by dogstar
