Good to see you back. Your post should be pasted to the front of this forum as a walking talking living (luckily) reminder of being careful while driving. I wonder if that other kid who got killed last week on Anderson and 37th would have done different had he read this??

His accident was almost exactly the same as mine, Speeding, Hydroplaned, hit a pole.
The only difference is i made it, and unfortunatly he didn't.
When i eard about his accident it seriously sent chills down my spine, i really realized how close i came to dying that night.
Anyways, another update.
I have a follow up on Oct. 19th to determine if i can be weight bearing and start trying to walk again. Lets hope all the news is positive.
Thanks for all the replies, beyond is such a great group of people, and im so glad to be part of the community.

Yeah, I totalled a 240 myself last november...no injuries wasn't anything near yours, but it easily could have been worse. Glad to hear you're beating the doctors predictions tenfold. If you got out of that, I'm confident that you'll make one helluva recovery. I saw that on the news and cringed man. Keep on proving them wrong in the best kinda way.

I have a picture of the car after the crash. Not sure if Darren wants it posted or not.
Either way, get well man.
There seems to be a lot of interest in what the car looks like after i destroyed it, So go ahead and post it if you like, maybe it can serve as a reminder to people to use their heads and keep things safe.Originally posted by Loose

^ Good to hear that you're OK man. Just read the thread right now.
Someone is looking over you. God bless.
The pictures were taken by a coworker.
In short, there was a course being taught to police and traffic collision analysts. Some of the vehicles in the impound yard were used as examples for the course. Your's happened to be one of them.
I will ask around to see if any of the other guys on the course took pictures, as none of these truly show the extent of the damage.
I've investigated about 400 crashes in my career. Darren's is one of about 10 I can think of where it was an astonishment that the driver/passenger survived. He was were very lucky.
If I had a message for you guys looking (I don't want to sound preachy), take a good look at these pictures and consider how you conduct yourselves on the road. It only takes one slip up or mistake, to change your, your friends', or other peoples lives forever.
disclaimer: I don't know the circumstances of Darren's crash so I am not passing any judgment about his situation or what happened. I just want you guys to know car crashes can mean serious buisness, and you owe it to your community to be responsible.
Front view. Doesn't really show anything other than the bumper cover being torn off and that someone put the trunk on top of the car after the crash.
Another front view. Take a look at where the steering wheel is. Note that the roof was cut off during Darren's extraction.
