Install a humidistat and soffit exhaust fan. We used to use this as an option on beyond
$500 for garage floor drain here with cedarglen. We're doing 2.
I know Mario from Concrete Innovations has been retrofitting drainage grids to the inside of garages that have been having these issues. He drains the water to a sump with a sump pump hooked to a garden hose and when the sump fills up you just roll out the hose, turn the pump on and empty the sump. I know this summer he was even trying to get the building code changed to add a drainage system to new builds as its so common in this part of the world and its so easy to fix. Not sure of costs though.
Has anyone experienced hairline cracks in their concrete garage floor that was newly built? I've only been in my new place for 9 months and I've noticed hairline cracks and I was just wondering was it because I left snow and residue from my car without sweeping it out of the garage?
Concrete? Cracks happen and regardless of the snow and residue from your car. Tell you what, I'll trade you your hairline cracks for the monsters in my detached double, then you might have something to complain about but then again, it's a 50+ year old garage built in an area with numerous underground springs. Don't look in your basement either because you'll probably see cracks down there as well. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Will fuck off, again.

UPDATE: Jayman agrees the slope is crap, they will be resurfacing the garage to improve drainage in the spring.
On another note, has anyone ever put down a resin, or waterproof treatment on the garage floor? How long should you wait before you do something like that? We have some minor cracks and we figure its probably wise to let the pad settle for a few season before we do ti no?

Morrison charged $427 per floor drain.
I applied this sealant from Unicon:

Makes wiping up oil and other spills easy.
A garage heater helped a ton with the pooling water. Keeping the garage at 12C allows it to dry over night.
Does this stuff make it slippery with wet and/or snowy shoes? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
There's two versions, Unisheen (gloss) and Uniseal (matte). I put the matte in the garage and it wasn't much more slippery than bare concrete. I think I would go with the gloss next time though. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I also put the gloss on exposed aggregate outside with the anti-slip additive and I would say it's less slippery now than when the builder put down the matte without anti-slip.
I think I paid about $150 for 5 gallons and another $20 for the anti-slip, they were running a promo to include the roller, refill and tray for free. Unicon has a sample applied to a patio stone in store you can check out and worse case you can still get a complimentary slurpee from their machine if you decide not to go with either.
