dude.......1 thing...dont campare your car to european or japanese cars...cause in all honesty......a german engineered engine will out perform a american engine if they are rated the same........................and did you JUST get your car or something? cause it seems like all you wanna do is race your car................................its a sunfire man.

Weight does matter, but audi kid is right.. an ening that is a 2.2l made in america can not beat a 1.6l made in japan. Americans are narrow on the "pushrod" thinking. A 2.2l gm engine only makes 115hp at the crank, with no accesories on (including an alternator)... you will be looking to run high 17's in a stock sunfire, with a 2.2l and manual transmission

did i mention anything about my car at all.....imports or domestics.....i just used those figures as examples cause i always hear crap like my subs weigh 200 pounds or i had 1 more guy in my car....just wondering if weight makes that much difference
cause your car has to pull more?

ok if you a civic with 115hp and 100ftp and another with 115hp and 125ftp....the one with more torque has 200lbs more weight in it.....will they be about equal??
and no I dont say that....OTHER people say that after they lose
I think what you want to know is this. On average for every 100lbs of weight it will effect the 1/4 mile times by about .1 of a second. So if your car weighed 3000lbs and you ran 17.00 then stripped 200lbs of weight out of it you *should* run about 16.8.
You start with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck.
thank you for answering what i was wondering....greatly appreciated 5.9
If you take off 200lbs, you can lower 2.0 seconds on your 1/4 so you'll probably be hitting the 14's easily in your Sunfire. Those cars are really fast.
14's on the quarter mile with 115hp???Originally posted by gpomp

i didnt say anything.....but i think i might go on friday just to see what it can do
Ya man, no problem. It's all about power to weight and those cars are damn light.Originally posted by SmelltheRubber

the weight is right around 2600
You want power to weight ratio? Try taking an mx-3 that originally weights 2500lbs, now put a 2.5L v6 that's all cast aliminum and put it in the car ---> making it around 2350lbsOriginally posted by gpomp

Now take 2350lbs + 200hp +190lbs/torque in a fwd japanese car...
btw: my engine arrived at the shop last week, we are just about to change the seals, gaskets, etc... can't weight until its in the car!
weight and torque figures arent enough to make a call...
u need to factor in a lot more things; and heres a few:
the torque CURVE
hp curve
drivetrain losses
gearing
unsprung weight
driver skill
wheel size
aerodynamics
gasoline being used
tires
etc etc etc etc etc!!
that is th ebiggest load of shit i have ever heard! you must be retarded! i sunfire ( 4 door?) even with 200 pounds shaved would still run slower than 17.0. go to the track and dont get you hopes up. your headed for low 18's high 17's ...
me vs you: i know you didn't say you could run 14's gpomp is the dumbass giving you very false info.
2 second from 200 pounds!!!! thats hilious that means i couls take out my system and run mid 13's ! no wait i couldnt because thats retarded.
i love tharshing the guts out of those little cars, lots of fun. but theres no way that you could get it to run 14 seconds

are you guys serious or joking? i read somewhere 100lbs=0.1sec so 200lbs would = 0.2 sec. don't know where you guys got 2 seconds from. a 100shot of nitrous probably doesn't even cut that much off.
