I put one in for the winter too. Damned thing had water in it when I picked it up in the string. Probably from my creepy heavy breathing the season before. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Probably asked here before but I'm looking for advice on trailer covers for winter storage. Roof was resealed last year and want to keep it looking that way.

Wondering what became
Of what I once knew
I think covers are not particularly popular. I've never used one.

Definitely agree. Covers aren't used by many people at all it seems. However, my mom started using a cover a few years ago and now she swears by it. I thought it'd just get ripped apart.... Waiting to hear back on what brand she has. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I guess it keeps the UV off, which probably is a benefit.

Everything I’ve seen and been told is to not use one since they either run on the trailer when it catches the wind or just keeps any moisture that gets under right against the trailer. It’s not a sealed envelope by any stretch.
And you’re going to be dealing the roof every few years anyway, cover or not.
See Crank. See Crank Walk. Walk Crank Walk.
Covers are a great idea if you park/store it in a coniferous forest, to keep the acidic needles and sap off it. Storing in any of the lots around Calgary though isnt necessary.
First casualty of my four month trailering career; unplugged my 7-pin while I had it parked in front of our house yesterday and forgot to reconnect it when I returned my trailer to the storage lot.
Wondered why nobody wanted to let me merge from 64th ave to deerfoot-- then I realized about two minutes from the storage lot that I had no lights or trailer brakes. Oof.
hurts to post something this stupid but I'd be letting y'all down if I didn't.

The upshot is that it still works, and I already have a replacement 7-pin connector and junction box awaiting install as this 7pin cable had already been cut and reassembled by the P/O.
This summer was the first time I owned a camper too. On my first trip with it I was a few blocks away from picking up my friend when I looked at my side mirror and saw I was dragging the camper by the safety chains and it was swerving around behind me. I hadn't latched the hitch onto the ball properly and it hit a pothole and popped off. Yikes! I wasn't as concerned about damaging the trailer as much as I was getting my new 2-day old car rear ended by it, but fortunately I was driving extremely cautious with it being my first time so it wasn't fast at all. Somehow I made it up 4 levels of parkade and 7 blocks before it fell off Thank god for safety chains! I tell you, you only make that mistake once, now I double, triple check it's latched on properly. Funny thing is, on my way to my friend's I was doing a mental checklist of things I should have done and I realized I hadn't put in the locking pin on the latch right before I looked in the mirrorThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Actually, there were 4 groups of us travelling on that trip. On the way out, one group had a tire blow out by Canmore, another's trailer bathroom flooded the morning before they hit the highway, and on the way the last group's RV holding tank gauge was stuck on full so they had to hold it in "just in case". Total Final Destination shit
Lots of those gauges stick. My shitter tank is directly under the toilet, so I can look straight down when the flap is open.
Wow! Shocked you didn't feel that, but I suppose your teardrop is so light it would be subtle. Glad nothing broke! This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Probably just gives her a false sense of security. But she has had good luck with it. They definitely run on the trailer so you have to pad the edges with a cut pool noodle. Total pain in the ass. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Starland recreation area campground fits the bill. Great spot too.
Carbon or Rosedale both have community campgrounds. A bit farther out would be the campground at Midway Reservoir. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

What's the group's practice and thoughts on gate valves over winter? totally empty black & grey with open gate valves, or closed with a few litres of antifreeze in each tank?
For the last 5 winters we have left our valves closed after dumping and tanks. Some antifreeze is in there after winterizing the lines. Yet to have an issue. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
