I like Peters, but the best burger is from Burger Inn or Harveys. For dine in, Earls has some good burgers.

i had a boogies burger the other night - didnt think it was that shit-hot.
and the fries sucked too.

Burgers in Calgary are terrible. I have yet to find a good burger ANYWHERE in this city. I find it odd considering Alberta is supposed to be full of beef but even the so-so burgers in Winnipeg are better than anything I have ever had in Calgary. Winnipeggers here might be familiar with the following places.
- Mrs Mikes (the KingBurger is the best burger in existance).
- George's (great "fatboy" burgers)
- Dairy Whip
- White Tower
Yes, Calgarians don't know what a good burger is because there is nowhere there that has one.
How about VJ's ?
Hell even Juniors has a better burger than anything in Calgary.
Peters sucks so bad that I didn't even finish that crappy burger.
.
Yeah, I prefer burger inn to Peters any day of the week here. I still think Blondie's is the best thing I've ever had tho. I only had the half pounder, and not only was I stuffed, but it was VERY tasty and fresh.

I think NOTHING beats Carls Jr. and White Castle burgers.

Montana's Big Sky burger is my fave. I can't stand Peter's drive in burgers they smother way too much mustard and crap on them

Ha I love the speel boogies give ya..
"We got ya sa-tayed muchrooms, fresh lettuce, we got a full pound a cheese, 3 broiled chickens, one fresh haddock, 2 quarts a ketchup, 2 litres a mustards, we got 8 patties, 2 loaves a bread, 2 whole onions, an entire bottle a molasses ".. and on and on.. that burgers got it all, we just make up shit all the time when we talk about that place..
haha
To revive an old thread...
Went to the Diner Deluxe today at lunch (Edmonton Tr and 7th Ave NE - just had Boogies last week). Bought take out instead of eating in. Overall, looked nice and clean inside, it's "diner'ish" but with modern touches. Cute chick with glasses that works there. Anyway, had a cheddar bacon burger. Set me back just a little over $11.
They don't have fries, so that was a downer. Instead, you get "roasted" potato wedges, soup or salad (went with the wedges, would've preferred fries). As for the burger, the patty was really thick and juicy. Taste was a little bland. The only real good part was the HUGE chunk of pickle they give you on the side. That was the best part for sure.
I'd give the diner another try, but I won't be ordering a burger...
Had burger at the Cheesecake Cafe by Northland. About same price as above. The biggest problem I have with them is that they don't have pickles!!! n: What's a burger without pickles?!? Anyway, had the bacon/cheddar one time. It was pretty good. Had the peppercorn another time. I could see the peppercorns, but couldn't taste them. The lack of any sauce (they just kinda dabbed on some chipotle sauce) made it really dry.
As well, they seem to have more lax hiring practices (i.e. they don't seem to have the same hiring "policies" as Joey's or the Cactus Club) so scenery was only so-so. Overall, food wasn't bad, so I'd go back but it won't be a burger next time (get some freakin' pickles for crying out loud).
Went to Boogies Burgers on the weekend.
Personally I was unimpressed. $10 for a burger, onion rings and a drink and we waited for over a half an hour for it. I didnt mind at the time because "good things come to those who wait". But when I got it I wasnt terribly impressed. The bun is way bigger than the burger forcing me to eat a "bread sandwich" for the first few bites. The meat is also pretty flavourless and had it not been for the hot sauce, mustard and mayo the burger wouldnt have tasted like anything.

I am currently testing EVERY burger joint that people tell me to visit in search of the BEST burger in Calgary. Next stop is Rocky's Burger Bus.
This thread begins and end's with the Burger Bus.Originally posted by l8braker
Rocky's Burger Bus in the industrial part past Blackfoot. These guys had a review in a US gourmet cooking magazine Very good stuff for your money. If anyone wants the address, I'll dig it up. four star stuff, although it sounds grubby and dirty, it's the complete opposite.
If you haven't had the joy of eating a Burger from this magical machine, you have led a sad and pathetic life. Oh man I can't wait until I go back to Calgary and get one from there, my mouth is watering just thinking about it.
Absoloutely!!!!!, the biggest, badest burger in Calgary...gotta love that red bus!!!!Originally posted by 962 kid

Damn where's this burger bus?!? Sounds good. For a fast burger, I like Harvey's Double with Bacon/Cheese. Peter's is ok once in a while. It's nice to have a burger that is plain and simply. Boogie's is decent enough, but something about their burger.. It's kinda, well, bland, even after it's loaded.
You guys ever been to Zip's in Spokane? I think it's a Spokane only thing, but ooooh that place is burger heaven. And they have deep fried shrooms..!

Fat Burger is by far the best I have had in Calgary. Almost as good as my home-made burgers (ones where you start with the ground beef, add in onions, etc.). They also have the best shakes I have ever had.
Peters gets by on its name and history in the city. The food sucks and milkshakes are just okay.

You got it The best part, other the the food, is chatting it up with different people.. Industrial workers, suits in AMG benzes, cops, everyone just seems to be warm and friendly waiting in line for food.Originally posted by sweetchariot

Gotta give that bus a try. I was not very satisfied with fat burger. All right, but the burger inn taste is a little better and it's not as much...fat.
