Does anyone have a IBM Microdrive?
Are they worth it? (battery life/duarability/speed/etc.)
Especially with compact flash prices dropping hardcore right now?
I need 1GB, but don't know if I should go compact flash or microdrive?

Do you really NEED 1gb of storage? IMO if you really dont need all the space, you're better off getting a 512MB cf card. You'll get faster camera start up time, and picture save time and you'll save some coin.
However, if you do need 1GB of storage space, things to note are that with a microdrive, your battery life will be shorter, and operation speed of camera (startup as well) will be slower. With that said, I think a 1GB microdrive is far cheaper than a 1GB CF card.

Yeah Im worried 512 wont be enough... I generally do everything in Raw format (about 6MB per image).
This is whats concerning me . Im starting to see 1GB compact flash cards selling for the $250 US range. Whats the speed diff? I.e. how much slower is the microdrives?
they're about 1.5x slower on average
very true.... it's slower & robs the battery. From what I hear, it isn't reliable enough. We have one and it's failed once already. Everyone that I know of that has one has had it fail on them before. What they say is: too many moving parts to be reliable, you're basically dragging around your hard drive so any bump, shock or unknown magnetic forces causes failure....not that you'd toss around your camera haha. If I could do it again, I'd go CF
I got these on eBay for US$78 each, including delivery. It was cheaper than a single 512 MB card. Two 256 MB cards give you greater flexibility.
