Now, Im sure all of you are thinking, how can I compare a Sony Bravia to a Washington house. Well, Ive heard great things about the W.H. (though im still bit skeptical on their longevity). Basically its $300 cheaper, 2 more inches (40 to 42), and 1080P. Though im not too fond on the cheap silver tone and after seeing the pic quality on the sony, I question whether or not I even need 1080P and the extra 2 inches. I know bigger is better, but this thing will be on my desk.
Surprisingly, I hooked up my laptop to this very same Sony LCD and it looked soooooooooooooooooooooo good, I was sold on it on the spot. If you saw how good the PC pic quality is on this Sony, wow...1080 what? It was by far the most crisp picture Ive ever seen in PC mode on a non 1080P tv at this size. I sat right up close to it, and it was so clean, wow..there is no doubt in my mind that I would be able to use this as a monitor. And call me wierd, but I actually prefer my text and icons and such to be larger than normal (I dont have the best eyes) so this helps as I dont have to squint into the screen.
But then I saw the sale on the W.H. this morning and now Im just trying to decide between the two now. Ive had some friends tell me this Sony model (even with the $200 off) is still overpriced.
I would go for the W.H. for value, but the big question with them is how reliable they are. The last thing I need is to have the thing break on me 3 months later and have to send the thing down to the USA to get serviced. Whereas Sony, well...the name speaks for itself. Ive owned 3 or 4 sony tvs in my life, and never had a single problem with any of them, all lasted me so many years. And even if there are problems, there is a service depot on Barlow tr. NE...which is close by.
I would like to decide fairly quickly here so whichever one I get, I can still take advantage of the sale price.
