Anyone here into doing these things?
I'd like to know a good place in Calgary to pick up supplies and live rock as I'd like to get into this hobby. Maybe get some advice from people who work there as well.
TIA!

riverfront aquariums has a lot of cool shit in it. i'm sure they would have what you need, i just dont know that much about their pricing.
Yeah I always see that place when I go to Chinatown so that was the first place that occurred to me. Do the big chain stores like petland have stuff for saltwater applications?
I waiting to start up a nano reef as soon as someone comes and takes my 45gal system off my hands (anyone...?) ....Riverfront has some good crap...also look on local aquiarium forums, there is alot of good crap to be had second hand!

Riverfronts a great place, there's this one guy in there (white dude with a beard) ask him anything, he seems to really know his stuff.

Sweet. I'm tempted to start a nano tank after seeing some of the writeups on reefcentral. They look pretty cool but looks like you can only keep invertabrates in them.
What is in your 45G?
My friend went to Riverfront a few weeks ago and some newby guy helped him out. He told him that his coraline algea was actually cyanobacterie . He also told him that he needs like 5 huge powerheads for his 50 gallon, that way it would create a "Cyclone motion", at this point my friend told me that the dude was making tornado movements with his arms.
Also heard that Gold's on 17th is not bad, but never been there before. Too bad Big Al's closed down
Sounds like if I head down I need to either know what I'm talking about or talk to that old guy.
I will check out Golds as well.

Reefcentral is great!
the forum i am on
http://www.albertaaquatica.com/
i am actually thinking of turning my 45 into a salt.
btw, i highly would suggest you hit up elite aquatics. i went in there for the first time a week back and wow. truely amazing.
its located in the same strip mall that outlaws is on
wouldn't go to riverfront.. it's just too dirty .. the first time i went there, they had cyano (bad stuff) in the main tank and it looked like it was there for a very long time.. not good for something that's supposed to showcase their stuff..
locally i'd probably go to golds (decent pricing), wai's (great stuff but expensive) or elite (it's the only decent on anywhere near macleod)
no to jack your thread but i'm moving and was debating selling my 60G and all the goodies for cheap.. pm if you want more details.
