lolz, i was thinking that i would rock so much harder at guitar hero if it was a real guitar...they could have at least put the buttons inside the frets though

I don't use much distortion, and I almost always wear headphones (my daughter is usually sleeping when I'm playing), so feedback isn't an issue for me. I hate the volume drop because, when I use the pedal, it's usually for a relatively clean solo, and having the thing back off 30% as soon as you start leading in pisses me off.Originally posted by rage2
I have an original crybaby too. The volume levels isn't really a problem with lotsa distortion . I actually like the drop in volume levels, at full sweep there's way too much feedback even with the dropped volume levels.
I'm using the Steve Vai bad horsey wah now, sweep's a little different, but the best part is no on/off toggle, it automatically turns on when you step on it, and turns off to bypass when you're off if.
As previously stated, because of my craptacularity, little nuance things tend to throw a serious wrench into my playing...
On the other hand, I don't play much that requires, or even sounds good with, a wah pedal anymore, so I'm not in to much of a rush to gut mine.
Having an automatic bypass would be nice. I've always found mine difficult to toggle on and off from a sitting position (which is where I do 95% of my playing).

Anyone try learning some of the crazy Micheal Hedges inspired acoustic stuff that has becoming popular again?

Just dropped off my Charvel and Ibanez at Fretworks for bridge pickup swaps and some setup work.. I heard a certain Les Paul is finished, he showed me an OLD Floyd Rose with no fine tuners (WOW I'm glad I never will have to use one) and mentioned it in passing. How does it play?
hey all you expensive tube amp owners, do yours have headphone outs? i just realized my marshall jcm doesn't and i'm a little pissed/shocked
My Fender Hot Rod Deville doesn't.
Most players dont want to play through headphones. Hell, I'm so used to standing and playing I can barely play sitting down. Plus I always had a hard time on stage with cords getting tangled, I'd probably strangle myself if I was wearing headphones.
Headphone jacks usually only come on "beginner" amps.
Headphone jacks usually only come on solid state amps.
A lot of a tube amps sound comes from the power tubes and since that is an enormous amount of power, you can't possibly run it through headphones. They also don't sound good at low volume either. They make really bad practice amps, honestly That said, I've seen an Engl preamp that came with a headphone out, but its supposed to sound really bad.
woo
saved some money up now i can go out and buy some new things..
anyways
im budgeting between a 1000-1500 on an Amp and possibly a new acoustic guitar..i dropped my old one by accident on to the corner of the table so its kinda fucked haha.
so ya, you guys have any suggestions for a pretty good combo? and where to purchase it? (i usually goto long and mcquade..kinda iffy about buying online right now)
if you guys can toss some ideas my way let me know!
thanks.
yeah i hear you, i just wanted to practice at like 3 am with my strat, preferably with at least some amount of amplification...even my little 5w valve jr. doesn't have one, i think b_t is right about the tube amp thingOriginally posted by wiley

One solid state amp I find fairly good( I own one) Is the Crate VTX200S. Really great clean and distorted sound( not as good as tube). Also it is 3 channel switcheable with assigneable onboard effects that are switcheable. Plus it can be had for 600 from AXE. Check it out.

IF you want a tube combo check out the V18-212. I own the v15 which is a 1-12" version of this. I was never a fan of Crate products having owned one of the crappiest crate practice amps when I was starting out. But having tried out they're new lines, I am blown away by hte value for money and general awesome tone.

I guess I dont know really what your list of wants and needs involves to fully give you more ideas.
