Need more guitar discussion

Are any of you guys using attenuators?

I'm finding my amp gets way too loud before I get any good distortion and I'm thinking of getting an attenuator to remedy that. The Swart Night Light's been getting good reviews:

I haven't bought any guitar gear in a long time. Been working on playing everyday and actually see myself improving. Go figure.

Needed a new practice rig... Marshall Dave Mustaine Megastack. 4 channels of goodness, Clean Absolution, Symphony Chorus, New Wave Of British Metal, and Holy Solo. Not carbon fibre, but it sure looks like it!

I haven't been playing much lately. Well, I haven't actually been playing at all really lately.

LOL. In contrast I'm probably where you said you were about 10 years ago. Spending too much time messing around with gear, and not enough focus on playing and skill development.

My current practice area...



Before the new megastack, the old microstack had only 2 channels, clean and overdrive. Talk about going back to basics. It wasn't foot switchable, so I've been playing on just overdrive channel. No pedalboards. No effects. Nothing. Just guitar and amp. It forced me to only use volume/tone on the guitar to get different sounds. It's helped a lot in understanding how to get the tone I want, from a song, or from something in my head.

I can only assume the real amps are hiding elsewhere.

What are you using for effects there? Some flanger and a wah pedal?

No effects. thats how the webcam messed up the sound.
