Preparing fender for paint

Hey I searched but couldn't find anything but anyways I just bought a used front fender and I need to get it painted. Should I prep it for paint myself and bring it to a bodyshop to paint it or should I just let the body shop do everything. If I did prep it myself any ideas on how to would I do it?

It will cost you more to do it yourself --- cuz you will use inferior products that will cause the shop to redo do your work adding more time
believe me I spent years redoing stuff that was paint ready
