Default What is our "region code" for DVD?

I'm trying to find a music DVD from the UK but I have no clue what region code canada and the US falls into for the DVD type so that I know that I'll be able to play it when it gets here. So far I know that region 2 wont work here and region 4 is australia.

    Can anyone help? thanks!

So our DVD players here would play region 0 and region 1 or just region 1?

Many DVD players play all regions.

You just have to know how to hack into them and change it to zero.

DVD players will play Region 0 and Region 1 here. If you know the model of your DVD drive you can search online for how to modify it to play any regional discs (some have to update the firmware, others just menu settings).

Or, you can go to Chinese video stores and buy a region-free player for < $40.

A philips model 642 will play anything...Walmart sells them for about $70.
A lot of the newer model dvd players except for things like sony or toshiba will play any region.

You could always create a backup of the DVD you just bought and use software to remove the region coding, this way it'll play on any DVD player. I do this to also preserve the original. (Yes, I do have the original). There's lots of software out there that will do this and will not require that you buy some crappy cheap DVD player. Please PM if you have further questions.
