I think we are talking about the same thing. The principal is protected and the rate of return is based on the markets performance... The one I am looking at is through TD. This GIC seems attractive.

I am not familar with the global markets, but here is what they are offering.

GIC PLUS
Return linked to the performance of the S&P/TSX 60.

U.S. GIC PLUS
Return linked to the performance of the S&P 500 Index.

GLOBAL GIC PLUS
Return linked to the combined performance of the S&P/TSX 60 (Toronto), S&P 500 (New York), FTSE 100 (London), Nikkei 225 (Tokyo) and DJ EUROSTOXX 50 (Frankfurt) indices. Weighting of each index determined by TD Canada Trust.

FINANCIALS GIC PLUS
Return linked to the performance of the S&P/TSX Banks Index.

UTILITIES GIC PLUS
Return linked to the performance of the S&P/TSX Capped Utilities Index.
