a few years back i had my window smashed and my deck stolen, i reported it to the police, got a call 3 days later, dumb fucker pawned it at cash converters 2 blocks from my house with his real ID

the amusing part was the deck still even had a cash conveters sticker on ti from when i bought it for $40, so they must ahve given him liek $10... also he was too stupid to look behuind the seat (it was a pickup) to see the $300 worth of subs and amp :P

i know what you're going through, just last month before my vacation i had my GPS and 2 week old camera stolen from my car. luckily i had bought the camera on my platinum visa and they have product replacement protection thing, if ti gets stolen within 90 days of purchase they pay for it... got my money back from them already

i know how you feel man, a day after my birthday some fucking assholes jacked up everything in my car, stole my stereo over 70 cds, my ipod, docking station, and a bunch of other miscellaneous shit that cost a lot... its definitely a shitty situation and i hope insurance helps you, + i hope you have the original receipts or know people who can make you fake receipts because insurance will give you only up to 50% of the depreciated value they assess your goods with

Man that sucks so much. I definitely feel your pain. I've been a victim twice before. I'm seriously nervous about leaving my car ANYWHERE for an extended period. I had alarms on both vehicles but that didn't discourage the thieves.

I guess stealing isn't to important in this city. The police take forever to show up but they are sitting waiting to give people the dumbest tickets. I just don't get it?

well one of these times some people will get lucky..
my friend was... a few months back he was coming to his car downtown after work (he is a 6'2 225lb bouncer) and a caught 17-18 year old asian kid in the process of pulling his deck out. can't really tell all the details but I don't think that kid will steal again... =) quite funny

Sorry for your loss... One time my car got broken into and they stole only my cd's but it still pissed me off!! Too bad for them they didn't look under the seats because i had my discman and my gf's wallet under it!

Good move, you dont know how many times your car was targeted, only to have the thief move on because of your alarm.... this applies to the 'opportunistic' types.

At this point I kinda of wish they did...it would be easier to spot my car versus just a few of my parts...plus this way I wouldn't have to look at my Hollie with the disgusted feeling I have now...

Not sure how much it would help with the car theft problem, but a bait car program in Calgary would be nice. These threads on someone getting something jacked is occurring far too often.

Maybe there is some suggestion box or email we can send the authorities/city to take more notice of the issue? I dunno...

hell I had over 5k worth of shit stolen from my apartment, and the cops never came for 2-3 hrs. Not like anything is gonna happen with their little report anyways.
