Gun held to baby's head in home invasion

CALGARY (CBC) - A Calgary couple say a gun was held to their baby's head during a violent home invasion.

Muzaffar Taj told CBC News that he and his wife Nusrat were at home with their daughter when a group of men armed with guns and knives forced their way into their house in the 100-block of Taracove Crescent N.E.

The thieves got inside Wednesday afternoon by posing as delivery men, Taj said.

They made off with $100,000 worth of goods after putting a gun to the baby's head and threatening to kill her if their demands weren't met, Taj said. Among the items taken, he said, were a $60,000 truck, plasma TVs, jewelry and his collection of about 50 bottles of cologne.

The couple were bound with duct tape as the suspects rifled through their home, said duty Insp. Richard Hinse. After about half an hour, the men fled.

The couple were able to free themselves and call 911.

"We're investigating the fact if there was any relationship between the men that committed the home invasion and the couple inside," said Hinse.

But Taj said he didn't know the invaders.

The couple's three older children weren't home at the time.

^^ They're investigating that lead because the story doesn't add up...well it doesn't for me at least. First of all, the couple mistook the men for delivery guys. Did they just happen to be expecting delivery guys that day? If not, then why would they let the men into the house and where was the item they were supposedly delivering. As well, these guys did this in the middle of the afternoon and decided to really take their time, staying up to 30mins to commit their crime. Most theives are not brazen enough to stick around that long for fear of some neighbours becoming suspicious or someone else coming home, especially in broad daylight. These few factors would lead one to at least suspect that the people involved had some connection.

Yeah, no shit eh? Like maybe a UPS truck or something? Since when does it take more than two people to deliver something? Unless of course they were EXPECTING a fridge, or furniture, etc.... It was mentioned that the three eldest children wern't present at the time, I wonder if any of them are gang associated and happened to piss the wrong people off? Also, if your going to raid a house, why raid a NE house? lol jk..

Keep in mind guys that you only know what the media has been told, and revealled. There are tons of details which have been left out, which may or may not explain the situation better.

If you guys are thinking this, then their neighbors probably are too. Poor family - their house gets invaded, and now they have to worry about people thinking they were behind it!
