    Default dear calgary parking authority...

    GO F**K YOURSELVES

so back in july i went to pemberton music festival.
my buddy said i could park my truck outside of his apartment complex on the street for the 4 nights we'd be outta town, he works in the oil patch and has left his car (no permits required) in the SAME spot for weeks at a time without any issues.

anyways, while I was gone, i get a parking ticket and they tow my truck and impound it.
    k, whatever
i pay all the fees etc etc. and i get my truck back upon my return.
i immediately filled out the forms to have my bullshyt ticket/tow/impound reviewed in hopes of getting my money back.

i FINALLY got an answer today....they have the nerve to tell me that i will ONLY get my parking ticket refunded ($39, whoopie)
they say that i will not get my impound lot fees refunded because "my truck was parked/stored for an extended period of time" WHAT....THE...FACK?!?! IT WAS 4 NIGHTS!!!!

so anyways i am really fuckin pissed off that they did this and the only other way to fight it is to hire a lawyer, which CPA knows I won't do because it would cost me more to hire a lawyer than what the impound ticket cost.

fuck that pisses me off!!! what a crock of shit!
they informed me that 'well if the parking ticket is cancelled, then in turn, the impount lot fines would have to be void as well'

    well, nope

    FUCK ME

    /vent

Does your truck look like a derelict?

What did they tow you on? Illegal parking? Hazard?

i wasn't parked like an asshole,
    i parked normal and fine

a friendly neighbour lady called me while i was in pemberton to let me know my truck was being towed. (it had a for sale sign on it, so she got my digs and was being nice!) said that there was supposed to be construction on that road, which there wasn't.

and "they" was the parking officer i spoke with when i went to the CPA office to ask wtf my ticket was all about.

he figured that if the parking ticket became void, then the towing ticket would also be void.

its all about the story you give them.
When i went to st marys high school downtown, students would park at the metres all the time and when they had a ticket they would call in and say the metre said fail on it when they parked and they stuck money in but nothing happened. Sure you sounds like a idiot but they would always say the ticket has been voided.
On third ave i went to get my haircut at hedkandi and it says 4hr parking and there are signs everywhere. I come out and had a ticket. That damn new system they have where you have to go to a machine beat me in that battle lol. On the bright side, the pics they send you always make your car look so good.

You are not allowed to park your vehicle with a for sale sign in the window on someone elses street or in someone elses neighborhood.

I learned this as I walked out just as PA was issuing me a ticket outside my ex girlfriends house. I asked what it was I did wrong, and that was what was brought up. Even after I explained that I had simply stayed the night and was just leaving for work, she re-advised me that parking a vehicle in another neighborhood with for sale signs was a ticketable offence.

She did not issue me anything, although maybe that may have something to do with your situation.

Just having the For Sale sign in your window at all is a ticketable offense, no matter where you are. I know a cop that gave a guy a ticket for that.......but it was a known gang member so he was just messing with the guy.

So basically we're pointed out 2 things you've done wrong, what is it you're upset about again?

Yep... this city is getting to be a serious piss off....

EVEN IF you are parked legally, within your zone, WITH a permit... car registered....they can tow you..... cause apparently, you are no longer allowed to go on Vacation and leave your car on the street.

    Ask me how I know!

Maybe someone could clear this up but from what I heard is that the city owns the portion of area about 3m from the road. So really you friend has no right to let you park out there as its not his land.

I thought it's 72hrs and no sign of movement and car can be towed.

Either way, it's some nasty neighbors that rat you out. City don't have the resources to go out there and ticket/tow everyone.
